Never leave your tech-savvy toddler alone with your phone, one couple learns the hard way

A couple in New Jersey was heavily surprised when a bunch of furniture were suddenly delivered to their home. They didn’t remember ordering anything, and didn’t recall entering a raffle of any sort.

As it turned out, their cheeky 22 month old son decided to splurge whilst fiddling with his mum’s phone. The total came to $2800 smackaroos ($2000 US).

While playing with his mum’s phone, little Ayaansh Kumar managed to access his mum’s cart on the furniture store and checked out the rest of the items, which amounted to a whopping $2800.

His parents Pramod and Madhu Kumar were unaware of the incident until several big packages arrived at their house, completely out of the blue.

Little Ayaansh’s Walmart haul included various household items such as accent chairs, flower stands, and more.

“My wife does online shopping, so at the time, she was checking some things on Walmart and she added to a cart,” said Pramod in an interview.

He added: “She was not intending to purchase those, she just added to a cart and said, ‘OK, we’ll come back later.’ But then she put the phone down and somehow my son managed to get the phone.”

The dad admitted that he never expected his son to be ‘online shopping’, instead of playing games on the phone. He was even confused as to how little Ayaansh managed to confirm the purchases since usually there are a lot of questions asked before the store secures your order.

“I was really surprised to see how he was able to complete the whole transaction,” said Pramod, realising his son is actually more tech-savvy than he thought.

“It is really hard to believe that he has done this, but that’s what happened,” he said, and added: “We learned a big lesson.”

“He’s so little, he’s so cute, we were laughing that he ordered all this stuff,” said his wife Madhu. “We are asking the same questions (to Ayaansh) again and again, ‘Oh, did you order that?’”

The parents simply laughed off the situation as they wait for more packages from Walmart. Thankfully, the store told them they could receive a full refund for the items.

However, the couple decided they would be keeping a few of the items to remind them of their son’s hilarious ‘first-ever shopping spree’.

And funnily enough, little Ayaansh wasn’t the only kid who managed to use his parent’s credit card for huge purchases!

Just last month, a 5-year-old boy from Sydney managed to swipe his unsuspecting dad’s credit card to buy $1200 worth of ice cream. Talk about sneaky!

Like Pramod and Madhu, the father wasn't aware of the purchase until the delivery man called him to drop off the dairy products.

Folks, this is your reminder to never leave your phone unattended with your tech-savvy grandchildren! Or else, your wallet might suffer.
