Love the typewriter, well done. I would love to get my daughter the grand piano to make and put it on her piano. It was over $400 and I don't think it is available now.

Just looked up the piano. It is still available but price is going up as it is expected to be retired this year. Might be a lotto win.

The typewriter set retires this year, too, so I knew it was time to save up and cross my fingers for a sale!

The best thing was a bent rod used for winding up cotton if building a crane...

I remember making toy planes out of wood planks and nails as a kid I figure there's no age limit for us to try our hand at some fancy toys we didn't have as children!

When I was a kid I was brought up on Meccano, there were no motors or tech.

I learned the basics of gears, flywheels, nuts, washers and cogs from watching my dad construct his Meccano tractors, planes and ships. And a working model crane! I was too small then to contribute more than passing the right spanner or plate, or screw, but I grew up totally convinced that making things yourself is a million times better than buying stuff readymade.

Love your equation! My career as a graphic designer and editor grew from a need to paint, scribble and fix things up. Sort of … but I also do my own household repairs if I can. Just to keep my hand in.

Why are you up so early?
Me, I can't get back to sleep, thinking about a project for a friend.
I find this is a problem I often suffer from, as I'm involved with the design and build.
I just wish I could shut down and sleep soundly.
Do you have the same problem??

Think I’m in the wrong time zone. I get my best ideas at night. Unfortunately the difficulty is remembering them the next day, because I tend to fall asleep after lunch …
