Mum transforms her living room wall using $16 Kmart decor: "So happy with how it looks!"

When it comes to hanging a bunch of picture frames around your house, everything from the type of frame you use, to their placement, and, of course, the photographs (or art) you end up choosing, may make or break the final result.

Here in this story, one mum found that the picture frames she had hung up on her living room walls were too "bold" for her liking. So, she went to her favourite retail store for options.

Sharing in a popular Kmart Facebook group, the woman revealed that the $16 photo blocks from Kmart completely transformed the look of her living room walls.

"Oh my god, the Kmart photo blocks are amazing," said the delighted shopper.

"We upgraded our old Kmart frames for our feature wall. They were $16 each for 12x12 inches and held up with 3M strips. We're so, so happy with how it looks!"

The photographs sold at Kmart are an inexpensive alternative that can be hung on a wall using a lightweight cardboard frame. For a borderless effect, each photo wraps around the edges at one and three-quarters of an inch.

Many were enthralled by the transformation and complimented the woman on her quick and easy home upgrade.

"This looks amazing!" exclaimed one woman, adding that she might soon copy the mum's idea because she, too, has black picture frames at home that she no longer likes.

A second user commented: "I've wanted to do this for ages but wasn't sure about the quality, but your home looks great!"

Some users also pointed out how the upgrade made her and her family's photographs stand out even more than before. And we have to say, they look fantastic!

However, many people observed unexpected problems with the woman's photo wall. While the picture frames look great, one user claims that the 3M strips she used will only last a few weeks. The hooks and strips will eventually fall off and damage the wall or whatever was supporting them.

A fellow mum who was familiar with the situation even mentioned that these particular picture frames had damaged many walls in her home.

Simple tasks, such as hanging pictures or calendars on the wall, are made much easier with the assistance of double-sided foam tape. Additionally, it does an excellent job of adhering light things to glass, wood, drywall, or plastic.

However, the same reliability does not carry over to your attempts to remove the tape. You might be able to pick at it with your fingernail, but in the end, only small parts might come off, and the adhesive will still be there.

This article says she transformed her living room for $16. She then said they were $16 each, that means she spent $256. A little misleading, and to those who say don't use 3M strips because you can't get them off the wall then you are not removing them correctly. I have been using these since they arrived on the market many years ago and have had no problems with them. As for falling off the walls, I have lived in my current home for 15 years and they are still holding up art work from the time we moved in.

Am I the only one to think it looks dreadful? I don't like things hanging on the wall, all my walls are bare. It all looks far too fussy for my taste.:(

Seems like an easy solution to remove the tape. One writer stated that the tape would only last a few weeks. I have read on several occassions that this sort of tape will fail in hot conditions e.g. a home heated up by the summer heat & l believe home heaters.
