Mum spots 'hilarious' detail on Coles birthday cake decor: "We all had a good laugh"

One mum has taken to social media to share a small, but rather hilarious, mishap that happened at her daughter's recent birthday party.

In a popular Facebook group for Coles shoppers, a QLD mum revealed that a birthday cake decoration she bought from the retail store added an unexpected twist to her daughter's birthday cake.

"Thanks Coles for the birthday addition to my daughter's first birthday cake today…" said the mum. Alongside her post, she shared a photo of her daughter's homemade birthday cake, which was topped with a small birthday bunting bought from Coles.

However, it was already too late to notice a glaring error in the multicoloured banner – instead of "Happy Birthday", the letters written on the banner spelled "Happa Pirthday".

"I didn't notice until revealing it to everyone," recalled the mum. Thankfully, everyone at the party had a good laugh and none of them paid much attention to the spelling error on the bunting.

The mum even said the small mishap on the cake decor made for a more "memorable" first birthday for her daughter.

A Coles representative has also reached out and made a statement that the typo on the item appears to be a one-off, and they are currently following it up with the supplier already. Customers can return any item they're not 100 per cent satisfied with to the nearest Coles store for a full refund or replacement.

Despite the odd spelling error on the bunting, many fellow Coles shoppers were also impressed by the mum's baking skills, applauding and commending her in the comments section of her post.

Apparently, the woman made the impressive dinosaur-themed birthday cake herself from scratch. It featured a blue waterfall surrounded by grass and dinosaurs and was handmade using different chocolate treats such as KitKats and Maltesers and various colourful icing embellishments.

As for the misspelled birthday cake bunting, she bought it from Coles Garden City in Mount Gravatt, south of the City of Brisbane, a few months prior.

We have to agree with them, folks – that is one beautiful cake! Her daughter is so lucky to have a talented and crafty mum like her!

One of the big problems with having things manufactured in non-english speaking countries! I was given a t-shirt which read 'Hippy Sovl' not that long ago ...... can't wear it in public but it makes a comfy nightie 🤣
