Mum shares SIMPLE TRICK to make your pillow feel “as soft as clouds”

We all love a good night's sleep, but sometimes our pillows can get a little bit grubby. Luckily, there's an easy way to keep them clean and fluffy — and it only takes a few minutes!

Melbourne mum-of-two Chantel Mila, better known as Mama Mila, has revealed her secret trick for making your pillows feel "as soft as clouds".

Mama Mila, who is known on social media for her popular cleaning and organisation TikTok videos, shared a clip showing how she uses liquid detergent to wash her bedroom pillows.

So, how does Chantel wash her pillows?

Mama Mila says that you should start the process by stripping the pillows off their slips and placing them in the washing machine two at a time.

She notes that in order to save water, she uses an eco cycle.

Next, add two tablespoons of liquid laundry detergent to the machine.

Once the pillows are sparkling clean, place them in the dryer with a rolled up or knotted towel — this will help prevent the filling from clumping.

One person exclaimed: "Love this tip!"

Well, we here at the SDC team have a number of tips for maintaining the softness of pillows.

Here are our ten tips:

1. Use a pillowcase

Pillows are an important part of a good night's sleep, so it's important to keep them clean and soft. One way to do this is to use a pillowcase. Pillowcases protect your pillows from dirt, dust, and other debris that can accumulate over time.

2. Use a pillow protector

It's important to keep pillows clean and free of debris. One way to do this is to use a pillow protector.

Pillow protectors are typically made of durable fabric like polyester or cotton and have a zipper closure. This makes them easy to remove and wash when needed. They can also help extend the life of your pillows by protecting them from body oils, sweat, and other stains.

3. Fluff your pillows regularly

We all love the feeling of sinking into a soft, fluffy pillow at the end of a long day. But over time, even the best pillows can start to lose their shape and become flat and lumpy. Luckily, there are a few simple things you can do to help maintain the softness of your pillows and keep them looking and feeling like new.

One of the most important things you can do is to fluff your pillows regularly. This helps them retain their shape and prevents them from becoming flat and lumpy. This can be done by hand or with a pillow fluffer.

4. Vacuum your pillows

Vacuuming your pillows on a regular basis will help remove dust and other allergens that can cause problems for people with allergies or asthma. You can do this with the upholstery attachment on your vacuum cleaner, or you can purchase a pillow protector that you can put over your pillows and vacuum them that way.

5. Wash your pillows regularly

Washing your pillows every few months will help them stay clean and fresh. Be sure to use a mild detergent and wash on a gentle cycle to avoid damaging the pillow.

6. Air out your pillows

One way to keep your pillows clean and fresh is to air them out regularly. This can be done by placing them outside in the sun for a few hours or by using a pillow freshener. This will help to keep them dry and prevent them from becoming musty.

7. Replace your pillows regularly

Pillows should be replaced every few years to ensure they are providing the best support and comfort. When pillows start to lose their shape, they can cause neck and back pain. So if you want to keep your pillows soft and comfortable, make sure to replace them every few years.

8. Use a pillow sham

Pillow shams are a great way to keep your pillows looking and feeling their best. They can help protect your pillows from dirt and debris, and they can also extend the life of your pillows. If you're looking for a way to keep your pillows looking and feeling their best, consider using pillow shams.

9. Use a pillow cover

Pillow covers are another great way to protect your pillows. They can help keep them clean and free of debris, and they can also extend the life of your pillows.

10. Store your pillows properly

When not in use, store your pillows in a cool, dry place. This will help them stay fresh and prevent them from becoming musty or mildewed.
