Mum shares remarkable transformation after wedding dress shopping struggles
For many, going shopping for clothes is an enjoyable experience and a small pleasure that brings joy and a sense of refreshment.
However, for Santana Kingi, a 33-year-old mum-of-three from South Australia, it turned into a distressing ordeal that brought her face to face with a growing issue—her escalating weight gain.
At 33, Santana from South Australia grappled with her weight, especially after her pregnancies.
While her busy work schedule before pregnancy made regular gym visits challenging, it wasn’t until after she had her children that she truly felt she was sidelining her own needs.
The defining moment for her came while preparing for her wedding. The experience prompted her to address her weight, shedding 24kg and revealing the depth of her self-neglect.
‘I found with every pregnancy the weight was becoming harder and harder to lose because my time became even less and I looked after everyone else before myself, which talking with my friends I found was a “normal” thing to put everyone else as a priority,’ she said.
‘I noticed myself withdrawing from events and catching up with friends. I didn’t realise I was doing the purposely until I started losing weight and gaining a healthy mind,’ she added.
The final straw came while shopping for a wedding dress and finding that nothing she came across fit. This led her to go to a specialty store for plus-sized women who had dresses that weren’t her style.
‘I was really beginning to lose my character. My relationship with food was unhealthy and although I tried eating healthy my portion size was too much,’ Santana recalled.
After unsatisfactory experiences with other meal plans, Santana opted for Lite n’ Easy (a meal plan service), inspired by her father’s success with it.
Within a week, she claims she shed three kilograms without exercising.
‘I thought if it’s this easy let’s set a goal weight and challenge myself to make it to the finish line,’
she said.
‘Every week was different. Some were more challenging than others but because I had a goal and was seeing results consistently it kept me motivated!’
Santana described the weight loss as a ‘huge game changer’ for her mental well-being and overall positivity.
Starting to walk and sprint was ‘huge’ for her, especially given the previous pain in her ankles and knees due to the extra weight.
‘I am confident and so much happier. I post more content via my social media, Tana the Makeup Artist (@tanathemakeupartist) than I have in the past I couldn’t thank Lite n’ Easy enough for giving me a new lease on life,’ she shared.
