A mum under the username Megan (@mmmorgan20) is breaking the internet after posting a TikTok video that showed a faultless way to make homemade popcorn.

Megan’s trick is essentially recreating bagged, store-bought popcorn in two minutes. In the short video, she revealed how effortless it is to make these for her kids with only a handful of things: salt, butter, pepper, kernels and a brown paper bag.

She starts the clip off by dropping in a tablespoon of butter in the brown bag along with a quarter cup of corn kernels, and a dash of salt. She then seals the bag with a swift fold and tosses it into the microwave for 2 minutes.

“Easy clean up. No chemicals. Can make a bag for each of the kids and it’s cheap!” She said.

Megan mentioned that this is how she had been making popcorn for years and users were mind-blown. The majority of them didn’t expect it was that easy to replicate and thought that store-bought popcorn had a ‘special’ ingredient that assists the cooking process of corn kernels in a bag.

“This whole time I thought there was some kind of special material in store-bought popcorn bags that allowed it to pop. ” one person wrote.

Megan proved them wrong as seen in the video, which reeled in over 2.7 million likes and 13,200 comments that expressed utter amazement.

“Why didnt anyone tell me this sooner?” a user commented.

“Wait wait wait— You mean I don’t have to splatter oil on the stove and stand there shaking the d*mn pan? Lol. Game. Changer.” another said.

“Tiktok be teaching me the real life hacks” a 3rd joked around.

Some added that the hack might also be more environmentally friendly and healthier compared to store-bought popcorn.
