Who remembers when mum would whip up some of your favourite meals in the kitchen all those years ago?

This photograph is of a classic Aussie mum drying dishes in the 1950s, and it evokes memories of simpler times. Everything about this photograph is such a reminder of that decade, especially the fridge with the rounded edges! Ah, from what my folks had told me, my grandma, and maybe all mums, were the authority when it came to the kitchen! In the house, if anything was ever missing, especially in the kitchen, you could count on mum to know where it was without a moment’s hesitation.

Was your mum the same too? Don’t hesitate to share some stories with us in the comments below!

Remember when Neil Armstrong had his walk on the moon in 1969? My whole class of about 40 kids walked to Mark Hardeman's house to watch it, coz he was one of the few kids that had a TV.

Ha the only reason we got a fridge early was coz a show off neighbour bought the fridge and couldn't afford the payments, so we got the fridge cheap.
Talk about a deal, eh?

Something tells me Mark must have been the popular kid in class at the time (hopefully he wasn't a bully...) :D

The US government has admitted that they didn't have the technology to send back actual moon landing footage.
I saw what was televised at the town hall because our whole town of 30,000 didn't have television reception.
