Kristy Todd spent only seven weeks and $2,000 in materials (and well… around 32 trips to Bunnings if we’re being honest) to turn an outdated caravan that she purchased for $1,600 into a stunning traveller’s nest.

The creative mum posted pictures of the chic caravan on a popular Facebook group, boasting a bunk bed, a compact bathroom, a kitchenette and a dining table that converts into a two-person bed.

Kristy and her husband Jay, took out one of the old bunk beds to make room for a small powder room complete with an electric flushing toilet and a floating vanity.

Weight was one of the major considerations during the renovation and the couple made sure that the weight of the materials used for the new bathroom matched that of the bunk bed that was removed.

“Looking closely you'll notice we did not remove the kitchen or any other structures we simply restored them. Therefore, all weights remain the same,” Kristy wrote in the comments.

The stylish caravan, which Kristy named ‘Penny’, was given a fresh coat of white paint, luxe black hardware and a contemporary wood-look flooring.

In the kitchen, there is a microwave, a mini fridge, and tons of storage– all blending in perfectly together with the modern, dark kitchen counters.

Kristy reupholstered the dining booth and added faux hanging plants along with luxurious, soft furnishings.

“The main tips I could give is to know what you want to achieve and plan ahead,” she said.

“And with such an old caravan, be prepared for nothing to be straight to begin with. So, measure seven times before you cut.”

Kristy is putting her gorgeous caravan up for sale in Adelaide in the coming weeks.

Her post clocked up to 3,700 likes and hundreds of comments from fellow Facebook group members.

“Omg, such a transformation. You guys should be very proud of yourself. This makes me want to get an old caravan and do it up,” one user wrote.

“Wow, she's (referring to Penny, the caravan) beautiful… great job! So much in such a small space, but it works, and it’s just adorable,” commented another while a third said: “'That's one beautiful little house on wheels”.
