Mum creates a charming ‘mud room’ thanks to Kmart’s GORGEOUS (and budget-friendly) rattan furniture range

There’s just something about rattan furniture that effortlessly makes any room look so much more stylish, eh? One Aussie mum took to Facebook to show off her mini-project using Kmart’s rattan furniture range– and you can do it too!

“A hack and decor! We’ve been in our home for almost a year now and I finally got around to doing something with this alcove beside the front door.” wrote photographer Taralee Fraley in a popular Facebook group.

“Up until now, it’s just been a dumping ground, but now it’s a tidy dumping ground or a mini mud room.”

The savvy mum used two rattan sideboards priced at $75 and transformed them into a chic bench seat by taking the legs off and placing a foam cushion covered in beige linen.

She also used several other items from the Kmart rattan range including the $20 rattan wall shelf, the Kai cushion that retails at $14, the Nerissa throw which costs $21, and the $21 Herringbone runner.

As a result, her room gave off a light and airy ambience as the earthy tones of the pieces complemented each other perfectly.

Her post blew up and hundreds of users flooded the comments to praise Taralee’s natural talent in interior decorating.

“What a beautiful and inviting area!” wrote one user.

“The girl has got style– this is stunning!” chimed in another.

“This looks like it’s a magazine shoot! Gorgeous.” said a third.

While a fourth warned her about mould, sharing: “Looks beautiful! Just keep an eye out for mould growing in the sideboards, seems to be happening a lot with them.”

The space does look good but I would have thought it was a tad impracticable if indeed it is to be used as a mud room.;)

Not a mud room at all by definition of purpose - it's a 'drop zone' actually.
