Mum’s $2.5 million Lotto win leaves her ‘flabbergasted’: ‘I was speechless’

Imagine this: you've been playing the lottery for years, always hopeful but never truly expecting to hit the jackpot. Then, one ordinary day, you check your ticket, and your life changes in an instant.

This is not a fairy tale; it's the real-life story of a New South Wales mum who went from routine to riches overnight.

The mum from The Entrance, a serene coastal town on NSW's Central Coast, was left utterly 'flabbergasted' when she discovered she had won a whopping $2.5 million in the Saturday Lotto draw.

‘I was speechless when I checked my ticket, and I still am,’ she said.

‘I've played regularly for years and years, and you get used to checking your ticket and getting just a small win, so when I realised I had won division one, it was completely unexpected.’

The winning ticket, which she had been carrying around like 'pure gold’, was purchased at The Entrance Newsagency.

The newsagency's owner, Blake Gavljak, shared in the excitement, saying, ‘Before the weekend, we had never been fortunate in the 10 years that we have owned the business to sell a division one winning entry!’

‘In the last 10 years, we have seen a lot of customers be one number off winning division one, but this is the first time we have had the opportunity to be a part of changing a customer's life.’

The mum's plans for her newfound fortune were heartwarming. She intended to use the winnings to help her children, spoil her loved ones with Christmas presents, and embark on a trip to Europe.

But let's not forget the mystery millionaire in Western Australia, who also won $2.5 million in the same draw but has yet to come forward to claim their prize.

Time is ticking for this unknown winner, and one can only hope they realise their luck before it's too late.

In a similar story, six individuals won a Division Two prize in the Oz Lotto draw, amounting to $24,053.90 each.

Nine winners also took home the Division Three prizes, each taking home $4,061. You can read more about the story here.
