Movie snacks​

Who remembers them coming around with trays selling confectionary and/or ice cream during intervals at the pictures? This, combined with the sound of jaffas rolling down a wooden cinema floor, triggers your nostalgia, right? What's your most memorable movie snack from that time? We'd love to see them here!

Yes fond memories of the movies and snacks. We didn't always have someone come round with a tray of goodies, but it was a MAD rush during interval to run downstairs! The milkbar next door did a roaring trade and I loved the choc top ice cream, fantails, jubes and of course jaffas! The boys had delight in rolling jaffas down the aisles and a torch shone in their faces haha!

It was a difficult choice between Jaffas, Fantails, or a choc top ice cream. Maybe I ended up buying all three!
Either way it was always fun to be served by the person walking up and down the aisles or waiting at the back of the cinema.

I was THE Lollie boy at Sun Theatre, Yarraville in Vic. Loved those days in the early 50's earned a nice little amount learned a bit about budgeting.....

I remember in the 50's my first job was as the Lolly Boy at St. Peters Picture Theatre in Sydney NSW, when I was about 15 years old. It was a bonus to have a good chat with the girls in the audience, during the mid-time break with the lolly tray hanging from my neck.
