Moulded glass items

Australia Remember When / Facebook

Who remembers those classic moulded glass items, like the lemon squeezer and the green butter dish? Aussie mums sure loved collecting these! They’re perfect for the holiday season, looking beautiful while being practical for serving. Do you still have any of these? Share your memories here.

I still use the lemon juicer for lemon, lime and oranges. Only yesterday I made some fresh orange juice. It comes in handy and I use it quite a bit. Its reasonably small so doesn't take up much space and a rinse with water when I finish, easy. I have always had this juicer, cannot remember where I got it, but I know where to find it when I need it! I don't have any green glass items.

Remember my mother had both, the butter was always kept in the square one.
Had a couple of the lemon squeezers, it was always my job to squeeze the oranges as we had approx 10 orange trees. The juice so much nicer than th3 juice you buy at the supermarket now.

Yep, we had both of them growing up. I have been purging again (husband not home to say "we might need that") and find a lot of these old things in the back of cupboards, god only knows why we have them, they should have gone years ago.

Haha that’s funny you’re just like my wife she throws out stuff when I’m not home and most of the time I don’t even notice

I still have an ashtray of moulded glass. No-one in our house actually smoked but visitors did and these ashtrays are so easily washed out.

Yes, I still have some of these that belong to my grandparents, including some of the green uranium glass.
I watched an Aussie antique show the other day and a guy had hundreds of uranium glass items they are worth a fortune apparantely, and he also had footage of how there made very interesting.😊
