Money expert reveals the $2 coins that could be worth HUNDREDS of dollars!
Last year, we shared a story about how your loose change could be worth a fortune.
For those of you who failed to find some of the valuable coins and banknotes mentioned by money expert Joel Kandiah in his previous TikTok videos, don't go spending all your loose change, the TikTok user has revealed another valuable coin that could be worth hundreds of dollars.
Joel, who posts under the username @TheHistoryOfMoney, revealed in a recent TikTok video how a $2 coin could potentially be valued at $200.

“The 2012 red poppy currently has a value of $180,” Joel says.
“Due to its high value, people have been trying to make imitations and sell them on the market.”
The commerce teacher then gave a piece of advice on how to spot a fake version of the coin, comparing the real coin to a standard copy.
Joel explains: “As you can see here, they are relatively poor quality, using nail polish on existing gold poppy coins.”
“A general red poppy has a clean design and should be flat, not raised. Make sure you understand the difference between a real and a fake one.”
The video, which amassed more than 470,000 views, took the TikTok community by storm, with many users expressing their disappointment for not realising the value of the coin and “wasting it” on tiny treats.
Joel warned against forking out money as authorities could find you up to $5000 for defaced money. Credit: TikTok/@TheHistoryOfMoney.
If you find one of these coins in your loose change, Joel advises that you should sell them on eBay or seek a dealer who will purchase the coins from you.
However, in any case that you find a defaced coin, report it immediately to the authorities as Australians can be fined up to $5000 if caught selling or possessing defaced money.
Happy coin hunting!
