Microsoft​

I had a call from someone supposedly from Microsoft to tell me there was a problem with my program on computer. They knew my name and the program - office - I had installed. They claimed I was getting unauthorised activity. I use a Mac computer so I was a bit weary about the call. I told them I don't use Microsoft on my Mac I use pages as my normal program. I only installed Word because most people don't use Macs. The person became very agitated and said I needed to let him fix the problem or I would not be able to use the program. I said no and he angrily replied well I am going to cancel your subscription. I hung up. I got onto the Microsoft site and they clearly state they will never instigate a call. The first contact must come from the subscriber. My Microsoft programs still work perfectly.

Typical response from the scammers, they'll try anything to get access to your computer. I treat every cold call as a scam.

@JPE Good tip, thanks for sharing... I think the vast majority of computers out there have Microsoft Office installed, so it's quite a clever scam.

I agree with Ted - I treat every cold call as a scam as well.
