It's a relationship that has been in the spotlight for years—former cricket captain Michael Clarke and model Jade Yarbrough have experienced their fair share of ups and downs in the public eye.

From rumours of an on-again, off-again romance to very public fights, their turbulent connection has played out like a soap opera for fans and critics alike.

Now, over eight months since their infamous screaming match in a Noosa park made waves online, Clarke broke his silence on what really unfolded that fateful January evening.

In an exclusive interview that aired on A Current Affair, the 42-year-old opened up about the altercation and its aftermath.

'Things hit you in life that are extremely unexpected,' Clarke said.

'Relationships are tough. When you're in the spotlight, you're in the spotlight. There's no pick and choose.'

Clarke, Yarbrough, and company had been dining at a local waterfront restaurant when an argument between the pair erupted.

Yarbrough reportedly accused Clarke of cheating with his ex, Pip Edwards, sparking a heated public shouting match in a nearby park.

Clarke's vile rant at Karl Stefanovic, Jade's brother-in-law, as he attempted to intervene only added fuel to the fiery incident.

'Karlos, I can tell you now, don’t you f****ng look away. She can, she can punch me…' Clarke said.

Within days, footage of the explosive spat had spread worldwide, humiliating all involved.

Clarke issued grovelling public apologies to those involved and admitted it was all his fault.

'I accept full responsibility for this altercation and am shattered by my actions,' he said.

'I’m absolutely gutted I’ve put people I hold in the highest regard in this position. My actions in the lead-up to this altercation were nothing short of shameful and regrettable. I am shattered that because of my actions, I’ve drawn women of class and integrity, and my mates, into this situation.'

Recently, Yarbrough has also opened up about the altercation saying: 'There’s no rule book for navigating constant headlines, public life and heartbreak.'

'Relationships can be tough and complicated, and most people don’t have theirs splashed on the front page of the paper or dissected on breakfast TV.'

'I felt heartbroken and deeply embarrassed. I just wanted to hide forever.'

The couple had split after the incident. However, rumours of reconciliation had sparked in July when Yarbrough was frequently spotted at Clarke’s home in Sydney.

These rumours were strengthened further as they were seen together travelling to Southern France in September.

Media should butt out of people’s lives it has nothing to do anyone except the people involved.
