I have had tradesmen not come at the appointed time, or turn up hours later , or not at all, no consideration for what you may have planned for the day. I write them off and find ones I can .trust to turn upon on time. It’s not too much to ask.
Had a friend who once took a day off work without pay for a cabinet maker who just didn't turn up.

Is there a Medical ombudsman you can complain too, there seems to be one for everything else, although one we had in Qld was always on the side of Council.

Maybe we should send them an invoice for wasting our time, that would give them a wake call.
My husband and I had a reno business for 5 years before we started flipping houses. We never treated prospective clients like that.
My brother in law, on the other hand, was very unreliable. When work slowed down at one stage he actually had no work and we had six months work booked up.
That is the difference. Treat your customers well and when times are going bad you will still have work.
He asked my husband to pass some jobs onto him, he didn't seem to understand that people wanted us, not just anyone, we got our work on our reputation and word of mouth and they were prepared to wait.

I recently had my roof and solar replaced, and the roofer said he would come back in a couple of months and replace the guttering, that was July 2024 and am still waiting. The roof was an insurance claim, the gutters were private job.

Mmmm, they love the insurance work, they rip them off. That's one of the reasons we all pay so much for insurance.
