McDonald’s Australia just announced an exciting addition to their beloved dessert selection that has sent chocolate lovers scrambling for their wallets.

That's right—say goodbye to trekking all the way to participating stores to get ahold of this creamy guilty pleasure. Summer is going to be sweeter than ever as this delicious treat can now be availed from any location.

It's not every day that McDonald’s adds a new menu item, so to celebrate the happy news, they’re offering a massive giveaway where Aussies can score free Chocolate Soft Serve this summer.

From 8-10 December, the 'Mega Choc Soft Serve Machine' will stand by with its 8-metre-tall stature, offering free servings of Chocolate Soft Serve with OREO Cookies, M&M's Minis, or a Cadbury Flake topping.

This sweet attraction will first park itself at St Kilda Beach in Melbourne starting 8 December until the 10th, before making its way around other parts of Australia, including Victoria, New South Wales, Queensland, Western Australia and South Australia until February 10.

McDonald’s Australia Senior Brand Manager Liz Whitbread had this to say about the special occasion:

'This summer is Chocolate Soft Serve summer. With Chocolate Soft Serve being our biggest addition to our permanent desserts menu since the McFlurry, it’s only fitting we celebrate in a big way.’

'What better way to do that than bringing people and food together with free Chocolate Soft Serve and an epic 8 metre Mega Choc Soft Serve Machine by one of the country’s most iconic beaches?'

‘The Mega Choc Soft Serve Machine is here for a good time, not a long time, so head down to St Kilda to score your free Chocolate Soft Serve and soak up the atmosphere while you can.’

So if you're lucky enough to spot the roaming Soft Serve Van or happen to be in any of the listed locations during the time that it’s there, you can drop in for a free choc soft serve!

Once again the country towns and areas miss out. Tamworth being the only exception anywhere in Australia, and wow, let’s go there during the country music festival and make a killing, as I bet the ice cream won’t be free at every stop. What about going into the outback areas where it is sooo hot, and people would love a ?free ice cream. Should have set it up in a 4wd so they could do a proper trip around Australia, not just visit capitol cities.
