Massive changes coming to Woolies aisles! Find out what it means for your shopping experience

Good news, dear members! It looks like we can expect some major changes to the aisles of Woolworths stores that are aimed at making our shopping trips much more convenient.

Woolworths is rolling out a price tag overhaul on thousands of food items stocked on their shelves.

As you know, we here at the Seniors Discount Club are all about enjoying the shopping experience—preferably with minimal fuss. So, we couldn't be more excited to learn about these updates and what they could mean for our members when navigating the supermarket aisles!

To give you an idea of the significance of this change, did you know that there are typically more than 20,000 products available in an average Woolworths store? With such vast options, the new labelling system will surely be a game changer in helping customers easily search through these choices.

In addition to displaying the price and weight of an item as before, Woolworths' new price tags will also provide key nutritional and allergy information on the shelf labels themselves. Gone are the days when we'd have to squint at the tiny print on packaging to find that vital information about our favourite treats and daily essentials.

In a recent video on their social media account, Woolworths explained, 'You may begin to notice in our stores that our price labels display helpful nutritional information and other facts about the food. Like being vegetarian, a source of fibre, protein and halal, just to name a few. All in an effort to give you information as fast as possible.'

Imagine: now we can ascertain at a glance whether an item is vegetarian, a good source of protein or fibre, and even if it's gluten-free or lactose-free. What a time saver for those with dietary restrictions or simply trying to make healthier choices!

Many shoppers are thrilled with this new system, as one satisfied customer said, 'This is why I love Woolworths, so simple and easy to understand.'

Another comment suggested that Woolworths could even 'colour code' them, undoubtedly making identifying key information a breeze.

We all know the struggle of sifting through endless shelf options to find that elusive gluten-free snack or protein-rich treat to fit our specific requirements. The new labelling system will make our shopping trips much less stressful and time-consuming!

Though it's unclear if and when all Woolworths stores nationwide will roll out these updated shelf labels, we're eager to see it happen. These changes could prove especially helpful for those living with allergies or adhering to specific dietary restrictions, removing much of the hassle of sifting through unfamiliar ingredients and making informed purchasing decisions efficiently.

In the meantime, we encourage our members to keep an eye on the shelves in their local Woolworths stores for the new price tags and drop a message to customer service to express your appreciation, or even suggestions, for this initiative!

I’ve been in one of these new shops. The price tags are hard to read. The angle of them reflects off the lighting.

I fail to see the real value in this change. People will still have to get close enough to the tags to read what is written on them so will probably make it more difficult to negotiate the aisles as people spend more time looking at the tags & less time moving on.

The Woolworths that have closed the fast lane (12/20 items or less?) Have lost me. Sometimes only want something in a hurry and chaos to line up behind several bulging trolleys, all available aisles busy.

More virtue signalling from Woolies - ie it is about making them look good!
I am happy to see the changes but would be even happier if they would include the sugar content as well, as in high or low, would not expect the actual ammount, that would be expecting too much, trying to read the labels on the packaging is near on impossible unless you have a magnifying glass handy.

Happy with this progress but why not have a QRC to check it on the device whilst shopping. My bug is the plastic isle list are never complete or have what I am looking for. I then once I have found the item record the isle Number and approximate location like 1/2 way and middle shelf. I like to know what I want from each isle. Easier shopping more efficient, removing my star off the listed item when I find it.

put on the labels whether things have sulphites or not because a heck of a lot do (better still get the manufacturers to remove all sulphites)

QR codes would be helpful, it would be possible to enlarge the information and details of ingredients etc, making it easier to read....

how did these fussy ones get on a few years back?

hasn't anyone heard of reading glasses?

I for one do not like the new small print ticketing system at Woolies because the price tickets are way too small for this member of the aging population to comfortably read easily. I much preferred the old large print specials tickets. It was much easier to see the specials to help me shop more economically. Since I have to travel further to shop at Woolies they have lost me till they change it back.
