Maroubra Mall​

Remember walking through Maroubra Mall with Grace Bros on one side and Mansours on the other? It was the place to be in the '80s! If I am not mistaken, I visited there some many years ago to go to the Grace Bros Good Buys store, an old Grace Bros store turned into a clearance outlet of Grace Bos excess and expired stock. The mall was quite run down then. It is not there anymore.

I arrived in Maroubra in 1965 on a Friday esrly May, lovely flat at the beach. On Saturday morning decided to go to the shopping center of the time (nothing like the picture) in desperate need for a blanket. Arriving around 11.45am all the shops were closing in front of us. Learned that nothing would open until Monday 9am when I would be at work and the shops would close at 5pm, time I would be leaving work...a monumental shock for a Parisian (OK got the blanket at lunch time on Monday at David Jones).
