Maccas now offers an interesting Sundae flavour…

Coriander, or as people in some other parts of the world call it cilantro, is a herb that adds a special lemony and floral flavour to a variety of dishes, such as soups, salads, curries, and many more. Some people however have a certain gene that makes it taste like soap.
Well, customers in China are now able to put that to the test, with Macca’s new Coriander flavoured Sundaes!

Yes, you heard that right, members! Coriander infused sundaes!
“Coriander gang, raise up your hands, the sweet and fresh coriander sundae has arrived!” said a McDonald’s China spokesperson in a statement.
As pictured in the photo above, the sundae will feature the fast-food’s classic vanilla sundae, but this time, it will be infused with a vibrant lime green sauce topped with chopped coriander leaves fresh from the herb rack.
According to McDonald’s Chinese Weibo account (Weibo is a microblogging social networking site which is basically like Facebook, but exclusive to Chinese people), the offer runs from the 21st of February to the 25th only, so with any luck, this interesting flavour combination won’t last long.
The customers who have already tried the new sundae flavour have described it as “strange” and “fragrant”, yet not tasting like coriander at all.
One Chinese user on Twitter even recommended it to people, saying that it has a spicy flavour with a hint of sweetness from the ice cream. “It does amazing things on your taste buds,” they said.
However, Maccas fans from all over the world have expressed their disgust at the very thought.
One person tweeted that they bet the sundae “will taste like soap”, while another said that they thought the new flavour was an April Fools prank. A third added that the innocent-looking dessert will “completely obliterate people”.
Thankfully, a spokesperson from McDonald’s Australia has confirmed that the spice-infused sundae will not be making its way into Maccas branches here Down Under.
However, we aren’t missing out! The representative said that instead, Aussies should look forward to new dessert flavour options that are currently being trialled in select NSW stores.
“We love testing out exciting new flavour combinations, and can’t wait to hear what customers think about the new Crème Brulee Pie and Crème Brulee McFlurry. Who knows, it might make its way onto menus nationwide for a limited time,” they said.
The Crème Brulee Pie and Crème Brulee McFlurry are currently available at Dapto, Wyong, Stanmore, Haberfield and Beacon Hill McDonald’s restaurants.
Woohoo, crème brulee! Much better than the coriander abomination pictured above eh? Or would you be keen to try out the Chinese Coriander Sundae? Let us know in the comments below!
