Looking to get rid of rubbish in style? This ‘posh’, budget-friendly ALDI kitchen hack sends home organisation enthusiasts into a frenzy!

If you're anything like us, you hate having to walk all the way to the kitchen rubbish bin every time you need to throw something away while you're cooking. It's such a hassle, and it inevitably leads to a mess.

What’s worse is even if we opt to place a bin in our kitchens, the majority of the bins that can be bought are large enough to create space problems.

For those of you who are looking for a simple solution to this seemingly complicated issue, we’ve got good news for you!

It seems like a small thing, but the idea of using a laundry hamper as a kitchen rubbish bin is a stroke of genius. And it's not just a one-off idea - it's something that people are actually doing, and finding that it works really well!

The original idea came from a lovely lady who shared it on Facebook, and it has since been taken up by many others. The main appeal is that it's a great way to save space in the kitchen and it looks fantastic.

‘I converted the ALDI laundry hamper into a dual kitchen rubbish bin. It works so well. I painted mine the same colour as the kitchen cabinets,’ one woman wrote in the ALDI Mums Facebook group.

The woman also shared photos of the set-up, noting that with a few simple modifications, this versatile piece of furniture can be turned into a dual rubbish bin that is both stylish and practical.

The post has amassed more than 1,800 likes and hundreds of comments from group members who expressed their keenness to try the tip.

One user wrote: ‘Gorgeous, love the plant too.’

‘That's awesome!’ another exclaimed.

A third added: ‘It’s awesome, we did the same thing.’

Others said that while they are looking forward to trying this trick, they worry that ALDI may have run out of stock of the hampers.

One user shared: ‘I want one now! I suspect the hampers are not available anymore at ALDI but I will definitely nab one when it gets on sale again.’

‘Does ALDI restock this kind of thing or is it a once-off? My local store is out of stock,’ one person asked.

There are a few different ways to go about this trick if your local ALDI store still has stock.

Several users advised buying a 27-litre bin from Kmart or Bunnings.

One user recommended: ‘Yes this is a great hack for our kitchen also. 27-litre bins available at Kmart for around $12.50 each is also a perfect fit!’

‘I am using 27L bins from Bunnings. They fit perfectly, no movement,’ another claimed.

Whichever way you go about it, this is a great tip that is well worth trying!

Kmart laundry hampers work the same at $59 each are available regularly. I actually use two together so I have rubbish, recycle, bottles and cans. We are also downsizing and have a small storage room at the end of the kitchen where they will go with shelves and all my office stuff on them.
