Looking for a cosy new pad by the beach? Check out the 'smallest ever' block on the market!

When children get older, start their own families, and leave home, it's the (grand)parents who are left with a lot of extra space… and a lot of extra bills! Members, do you agree?

If so, instead of struggling to keep up with the maintenance of a big family home that's now too big for just one or two people, why not consider downsizing? It'll save you time and money in the long run.

We've got some excellent news for anyone looking to buy a tiny plot of land right now: a new one just went on the market, and from the looks of it, hundreds of potential buyers are already interested!

This teeny-tiny plot is located on Fourth Avenue in North Palm Beach, just 250m from the beach - but it spans a mere 125 sq m.

The current owners are subdividing their land so they can build their dream home on their remaining property; this sliver is what's left over and up for grabs!

Even though it's being advertised as Palm Beach's 'smallest ever' block, dozens of potential buyers have already expressed interest.

Ray White agent Jarrard Lemming, who is looking after the sale, suggests that a three-storey townhouse could fit on the block - talk about efficient living!

He also says it will set a precedent for what is possible in such small spaces, although we imagine upkeep would be pretty easy (and cheap) given its size.

If you ask us, this place would be perfect for retirees or single people who don't need (or want) all the bells and whistles that come with owning a larger residence.

The location can’t be beaten either - Palm Beach is one of Gold Coast City Council's most sought-after suburbs! Its close proximity to Burleigh Hill, Tallebudgera Creek, cafes and restaurants make it ideal for those who want to downsize without giving up all the perks of city living.

Key Takeaways

  • A small block of land has gone up for sale on Fourth Avenue in North Palm Beach, just 250m from the beach. The land spans a meagre 125 sq m.
  • Ray White agent Jarrard Lemming who is looking after the sale suggests that a three-storey townhouse could fit on the block, which is ‘the first’ of its size to enter the Palm Beach market.
  • The grassy lot was originally the backyard of a 405 sq m block, for which the homeowners paid $360,000 in 2003.

Even though most of us here are probably not in the market at the moment for a new home, what do you think, members? Is this block too small for your taste, or is it just the right size for some simplicity in your golden years? Let us know in the comments!

Well the Town House Idea has been done in other states such as Garages converted, Sydney and Melbourne

You would have to confer with the owners of the other home to be built. Could end up being surrounded by large homes with walls blocking you in. Not for me.
