The product video starts off with a mysterious panoramic view of the starry night sky. A voiceover begins to question the sounds of outer space–whether the sun roars as it burns or if the planets sing as they spin–then something strange slides into the frame.

We quickly find out it is actually the ALDI exercise bike—and trust us, you have to see it to believe it.

You can watch and enjoy the full ad below:

The humorous video is described by other viewers as 'genius' and a clever advertisement likely created by someone 'from Gen Z'.

The Foldable Exercise Bike is currently sold for $169. It is ideal for those who have limited space or don’t enjoy going to a busy gym.

The bike has a digital monitor which displays time, speed, distance, calories, pulse rate, and odometer. It also features heart rate sensors in the hand grips, eight-level magnetic resistance, and a padded height-adjustable seat.

How Effective is Humour in Advertising?

We've all seen a funny commercial, catching ourselves talking about it to our mates. It’s safe to say that humour is a powerful tool when it comes to advertising. Humour tends to make advertisements more enjoyable and impactful, which leads to better recall and likability. This is because people will likely create a positive association with the brand in question. So, although ALDI’s commercial was ‘bizarre’, the uniquely humorous concept made it more memorable.

However, it’s not just about crafting a good joke. It takes skill to align the humour with the right target audience and product.

Adds I love and won’t turn off, Cadbury, the meerkats, an that delightful Vicks ad, two teens one with a stuffed up nose, girl comes in for the kiss and no air, drops on the floor. I would be reaching for the Vicks after seeming that.

I like Aldi's ads. They are usually intelligent with a funny twist....

As for a similar ad: I think it was Hyundai had an ad about space... this older guy talking about (outer) space, but that was a game with words, as it was about the space in the car, if I remember it correctly. (I always loved clever ads, studied marketing/advertising!), and one big hit in German movie theatres was the so called Cannes Roll. A series of short video ads, using humour, fear/threat, etc Very entetaining,😂

Am intelligently constructed ad. Infinitely better than watch some upstart brat rapping in the back seat of a car.
The main thing I keep thinking about that ad when I see it is that sometime ago a lot of people complained about it because of the content of the whole song and wasn't suitable for a little girl to sing along with.

Quite cute and funny, but it's not up there with the ads that everyone remembers like: "It's your money Ralph", "Not happy Jan", "Bugger", "It's...a....big....ad" (Carlton Draught) and the Rhonda/Katut ads.

Loved Aldi’s ad about baby peas! Had them all in a pram!!! Their ads are worth watching for entertainment and you remember them which is what it is all about!
