Locals fuming over radio show’s Lamborghini stunt: 'Unacceptable behaviour'

One recent stunt has stirred up the wrong kind of attention in a world where radio promotions are meant to entertain.

A popular show’s latest spectacle has frustrated an entire community, turning what was supposed to be a fun event into a source of outrage.

Now, questions are being raised about whether the stunt went too far.

The incident, which took place in the peaceful streets of Elwood, involved a Lamborghini–a symbol of luxury and speed–allegedly racing through residential areas.

The timing of this event was particularly concerning, as it coincided with the end of the school day when children from Elwood Primary School and Elwood College were making their way home.

The high-powered vehicle, emblazoned with signage promoting The Kyle & Jackie O Show, was reported to have completed three laps around the neighbourhood as part of a cross-promotion with KIIS FM's breakfast program.

This was not just a quick drive-by but a repeated action that increased the risk and impact on the community.
Footage captured by a local shows the Lamborghini tearing down the streets.

'What a f****** idiot, what a f****** idiot,' a man who filmed the incident could be heard saying in the footage.

'There are schoolchildren coming back, oh my god.

The concerned cameraman exclaims in disbelief at the recklessness displayed, especially given the presence of schoolchildren in the vicinity.

The community's outrage is palpable, with residents taking to social media to express their dismay at the stunt, which they deem not only reckless but also a threat to the safety of their neighbourhood.

The backlash was swift and severe, with Instagram users condemning the driver's 'diabolical' behaviour and questioning the judgment behind such a promotion.

Comments highlighted the potential danger to schoolchildren, pets, and pedestrians, emphasising that residential streets are not racetracks and that the speed limit exists for a reason.

In response to the uproar, the Australian Radio Network (ARN), which owns KIIS FM, issued a statement confirming that the driver had been removed from the promotion.

ARN stressed that safety is always their top priority and that a full risk assessment had been conducted before the event.

They expressed disappointment in the driver's conduct, which they assured was not in line with the professional standards they had been promised.

'We engaged Euphoric Cars based on their reputation as a professional car hire business, so it’s disappointing to see this unacceptable behaviour.' ARN said.

'As with all our promotions, safety is our top priority, and we follow strict protocols to ensure the wellbeing of the public and our staff.'

'A full risk assessment was conducted before the activity took place, and we were given assurances regarding the driver’s credentials and adherence to road safety standards.'

'We do not condone this conduct in any way and are satisfied that the company has acknowledged responsibility and replaced the driver.'

They clarified that the unacceptable behaviour occurred outside the planned promotional hours and was not representative of their usual practices.

While the companies involved have taken steps to address the situation, the incident raises important questions about the balance between promotional activities and public safety.
It's a stark reminder that stunts designed to create buzz must be carefully managed to avoid endangering the community.

For our readers, particularly those with families, this event reminds them to always be vigilant, even in the quietest suburbs.

It also serves as a call to action for companies to consider the potential consequences of their marketing strategies in the broader community.

We at the Seniors Discount Club understand the importance of community safety and the need for responsible advertising.
