Did you ever stop by your local job centre back in the day? Before job recruitment agencies became a thing, people would scan rows of postings pinned up, each one holding the promise of something new. Some say it was easier to find jobs then, with this simple, straightforward system.

A local paper round when I was about 10.....hated those early starts during Melbourne's winter days though, cold and wet....lots of fun all the same and some money at the end of the week.

At the age of 14, my first job was working in a Roadhouse serving customers, making food like burgers, fish and chips etc.
