Latest poll results shock voters: See who's leading in the upcoming election!

As the political landscape in Australia heats up with the approach of the federal election, voters are keenly watching the polls for any indication of which way the wind is blowing.

A recent Newspoll survey delivered a bombshell that revealed a shift in voter expectations.

This, in turn, left many Australians surprised and political analysts buzzing.

The survey, which polled 1,259 voters last week, indicated that 53 per cent of the respondents now expect the Liberal/National Coalition to win the upcoming election.

This percentage surpassed the remaining 47 per cent of respondents who believed Labor would win.

This poll marked a significant turnaround from just five months ago when 55 per cent of voters backed a Labor victory.

With this in mind, the Coalition has gained momentum and left many wondering about the factors contributing to this shift in public sentiment.

One key element was the approval rating of current Prime Minister Anthony Albanese.

The Prime Minister's approval rate recently took a hit, plummeting to 37 per cent.

His dissatisfaction rate also rose to 57 per cent, resulting in a net negative approval rating of -20.

This six-point fall has been Prime Minister Albanese's worst rating since the 2022 election—a stark contrast to the optimism that once surrounded his leadership.

In comparison, Opposition Leader Peter Dutton's approval rating rose slightly to 40 per cent.

However, he still has a net negative approval rating of -11.

Despite this, the Coalition's primary vote has increased since the last Newspoll, and they continue to lead on a two-party preferred basis at 51 per cent over Labor's 49 per cent.

While Prime Minister Albanese remained as Australia's preferred prime minister at 44 per cent, the margin between him and Mr Dutton has been at its narrowest since 2022.

Mr Dutton's support has increased to 41 per cent, suggesting a tight race for the country's top position.

The poll also showed voter expectations regarding the composition of the next parliament.

Two out of three voters believed that the election could result in a hung parliament, with either the Coalition or Labor leading a minority government.

About 29 per cent of the respondents expected the Coalition to win as a minority with the support of independents.

In comparison, only 15 per cent believed that Labor would maintain a majority government.

Demographics played a role in these perceptions, as 58 per cent of women believed in a Coalition victory.

Younger voters were also more inclined to a Coalition win at 53 per cent.

Despite the challenging poll results, Prime Minister Albanese remained confident and believed that his government was 'heading in the right direction'.

'I lead a government that's focused, that's orderly, that has seen Australia through some very difficult economic times,' Prime Minister Albanese cited.

'We understand that people have been doing it tough, but what we've done is act on that.'

With these poll results, this election could be one of the most intriguing polls in recent history.

It's a reminder of the importance of staying informed and exercising your right to vote.

The Australian people have been subject for many years to an education which tells them that anything they do not understand must be voted against.
Democracy is a very weak form of Government because no Government operating democratically can make any decision at all, no matter how tiny, without involving committees, sub-committees, Consultants, Royal Commissions, reports to Government, enquiries, input from 9,000 different Conservative, Communist, Socialist, Fascist, Liberal, Poor, Middle Class, Green and Political Groups. This is why even repair of a road can take 4 years and cost $250,000 instead of being completed in 4 weeks at a cost of $8,000.
We are mired in thinking which tells us that if we don't KNOW, vote NO. This was exploited by the Liberal Party during the last referendum.
Australia has put up with Mr Robert Menzies instituted Preferential Voting System under which, you MUST vote for every candidate in an election, with results often hinging on second and third preference counting. We are the only nation on Earth which allows this profanity and yet, because of lack of knowledge, we believe it is a good system, even though it is 90 years out of date. In most other places, it is one person, one vote which seems to work well.
Between Liberal and Labor there is a Dog's breakfast of Cross allied intermixing with no clear idea as to who represents what or who he has unified with to ensure victory.
This election, like most others, offers no particular benefits for anyone and because of this, the winner will be hamstrung and literally hung out to dry. It really does not matter who wins. The lack of information or ignorance of the voters will ensure the same outcome.

They are all in for what they can get out of being in ParliamentJim is the only one is the only one with the correct grounding for treasurer even when Jim is the only one who has any right to be at the head of the money end of things. He still votes on the party line instead of a conscience vote that is what I don't like & Peter Duttons nuclear choice has left me out in the cold no one wants that here.
Nuclear power is used in Europe and has been for years absolutely no problem with it

They are all in it for themselves. If they cared about the people, they wouldn't hold their unshaking, greedy hands out for THEIR annual pay rise every year, while we all go without. The two party preferred system is a joke. Why vote if you are going to get some twat because preferences of the person you voted?

Id like to see Dreyfus as PM - after Labor wins the election. One thing is certain - Australia cannot afford to have a corrupt psychopath like Dutton as PM, or even in Parliament. Nor can we afford another second of the corrupt, incompetent Coalition. Labor has done remarkably in fixing the unbelievable mess the Coalition created 2013-2022. Let them continue the job.
😐 sorry to disagree Peter Dutton is one of the most decent and honest politicians , although I don’t agree with some of the policies, Labor has almost bankrupted Australia, and our children and grandchildren will be 💰 paying off their debt for years to come.

Really do you have to be so vulgar?

Not surprised. I voted for Albanese at the last election but he has been such a disappointment and has demonstrated weak leadership. Some people may not have liked Howard, Hawke or Keating but they showed leadership. That's what people want. Can't stand Dutton and would not vote for him. But at least he shows some sort of leadership but not my cup of tea

As usual, there are pluses and minuses to both parties but can't do much if you don't care for the leader of either one😟
The only difference betweem Liberal and Labor is the spelling. We need to get rid of the 2 party system and go back to independents as it was before the war. A lot more got done and less waste.

The woke children have had a go for 3 years. It's time to put the sensible adults back in charge.

I think Peter Dutton is the type of leader and person Australia needs... especially in a time of crisis.

He is a different Coalition leader and has impressed me with his strength, sensible attitude and humanity.

VOTE FOR THE STINKING LABOR PARTY. 😡🤬

Don't like or trust any politician. Sick of them all wasting tax payer money on ridiculous things and themselves. In particular I detest smarmy, smirky bull**** artist Albo..He acts like he cares however he wouldn't win a Oscar for any of his performances.. He is just sucking up the butts of the woke folk , the Indigenous and too many others to name.. Can't wait to get rid of him and Labor, they are both on the nose. Out of both him and Dutton I prefer Dutton.. Best of a bad bunch I say. I just wish that Matt Canavan, our local guy, was standing for Prime Minister, he would get my vote in a heartbeat.. Honest and truthful !!! A rarity amongst politicians.

I’d be more than happy to see Labor lose. Albanese has to be the worst PM Australia has ever seen. His care factor is a big fat zero! It’s time to let someone else drag us back into the real world.
Why? He has delivered almost everything that was promised despite the Greens voting with the Coalition on many occasions. I know I am better off than I was under the previous government. People need to look carefully at what Dutton promises before they vote.

Labor doesn’t raise the pension,we get an automatic raise twice yearly ,has nothing to do with Labor.

La
It is not necessarily a rise twice a year- it could be a fall. Btw, the coalition changed the previous method of basing the rate of pension which meant a lower payment.
