Google: What happened to that Wanaka tree?
A branch came off the tree in late 2017 due to tourists climbing it, which led to the local tourism board installing signs discouraging the practice. The tree was vandalised on 18 March 2020, with multiple limbs being sawn off and left on the shore.

spent a few days in wanaka last october. as a mainlander do not forgo this trip.

Yes I agree...this is not my pic, I've had it for a while but not sure from where I got from...the one I took was similar but with snow on the far hills, but I've mislaid it for the moment
