Knitting Nancy
Remember making long, colourful cords with a Knitting Nancy? Some called it ‘french knitting’, and in South Australia, it was known as a ‘tomboy’. Whether it was made from a wooden spool or a fancy plastic one with a painted face, it was a quiet school activity that brought hours of joy. Slowly winding the yarn and watching your knitted cord grow longer and longer—what a sense of achievement!
