In a popular Facebook group called Kmart Home Decor, FB user Sally shared her clever transformation of the affordable table by adding a concrete top.
She went on to say that the concrete had been sealed with an acrylic sealant to prevent stains and cracks.

The acrylic also made the table more stable and prevented it from tipping over as easily as it used to.
“(The) table actually seems more stable now than without the concrete, legs/screws are coping fine with the weight,” she wrote in the comments section.
The concrete gave the table a rustic look, and if you search on Google, similar designs can cost anywhere from $200 to more than $500.

“Wow, you would pay lots of money for something like that in a fancy furniture/decor shop,” one member of the group commented.
“Wow! That looks incredible,” another person wrote.
The mum-of-three didn’t share where she bought the concrete. But you can purchase bags of quickset concrete mix from Bunnings for as little as $7.70 for 20kg.
Many people were inspired to try the hack, while others shared their own transformations of the $39 table.

“I'm a tiler by trade and turned mine into this,” Jack wrote alongside a photo of his tiled tabletop.
The tradie described how he did it after being bombarded with questions from DIY enthusiasts asking for tips.
He explained, “I cut a round sheet of villaboard to suit table size and used extra strong sikaflex to adhere to the table, then primed villaboard and glued/grouted tiles before sealing,” he added.
Another DIY fan who goes by the name thirtysomethingnerd on Tiktok has shared their version of the hack, in which they spray-painted the black table in rose gold.
