Kmart shoppers share distressing sights in several stores: 'F****** grubs!'

As we hop into the Easter season, Aussies are reminded of a time traditionally filled with joy, family gatherings, and chocolate indulgence.

However, not all is well in the aisles of our beloved bargain stores.

Kmart, a household name for affordable shopping, recently found itself at the centre of a controversy that left many shoppers mad.

The chaos unfolded when Abbey Marie shared a series of videos that captured a local Kmart's disarray.

The footage revealed a scene that was far from festive.

Chocolate bunnies, once pristine in their packaging, were left half-eaten on the shelves.

Even the treats' wrappers were torn, with their ears nibbled away.

This sight made the chocolates unsellable and painted a picture of disrespect and disregard for property.

However, the store's Easter section was not the only casualty of the retail recklessness.

Abbey also shared the dishevelled state of other departments—including a misplaced dog bed among the shoes.

Abbey's videos showcased a sight that's becoming all too familiar for Kmart regulars.

'I went to two different Kmart stores yesterday, and they were both like this,' a commenter reacted.

'Stores would not be in this state if everyone had a basic level of decency and respect,' another said.

'The customers are f****** grubs. Who does this in a store?' a third asked in disbelief.

The question on everyone's lips is, 'Who's to blame?'

Many shoppers attributed the mess to unsupervised children and mischievous teenagers.

'The amount of people that use Kmart as a play centre for their kids is infuriating,' a commenter shared.

'Kmart needs an age limit. Get these teens out of here. I'm sick of the disrespect,' another suggested.

'Kmart needs a rule where you need to be accompanied by a parent/caregiver if you're under 18. The amount of teens I've seen trash Kmart for fun is ridiculous,' a concerned citizen said.

'In reality, parents let kids eat chocolate so they don't have to pay for it. Yes, staff get paid to tidy the shop, but if customers stopped being so feral, it wouldn't get like this,' another agreed.

However, not everyone is quick to blame the younger demographic.

Some shoppers directed their frustration towards the Kmart staff.

Several commenters suggested that Kmart may have staffing issues or have not been as diligent in their end-of-day clean-up duties as they could be.

'They need to get night staff in there and clean up,' a shopper suggested.

'This doesn't happen in one day. Try finding a staff member in Kmart that isn't overworked as not enough staff to cover the store,' another pointed out.

Several Kmart employees also spoke out about the incident.

'As a staff member at Kmart, my stress levels are so high because of posts like this blaming the staff,' an employee claimed.

'We try so hard to keep things tidy only to have customers wreck the place, and then people blame us.'

As of writing, Kmart has not commented yet about the situation, but this incident sparked a broader conversation about consumer behaviour, retail management and shoppers' collective responsibility.
Key Takeaways

  • Kmart shoppers were shocked and disgusted by the messy state of the store's Easter display.
  • Customers called out shoppers' lack of decency and respect and suggested age restrictions to prevent unsupervised minors from causing havoc.
  • Some also blamed Kmart staff for the disarray due to insufficient staffing.
  • Kmart has not yet commented on the situation, which has garnered attention online.

I was horrified that my grandson of 11 had his own messenger account and he and his pals were discussing oral s**... at 11 years old. What is this world coming to? Wait till he is 16-19, he will be uncontrollable and probably end up in prison. Fortunately, he lives far away, so I don't have to deal with it .

He is your grandson not some stranger - do you not speak to his parents or him? How can you just turn a blind eye and shrug your shoulders? Not good enough I'm afraid.

Wow I get really pissed at the sheer stupidity of this person! Firstly go to the store manager and complain! Secondly its customers / kids that do this and just leave the wrapping half esten product on shelves, it wasn't the staff!! Next time before you seek to glorify yourself on bloody TikTok! Use your brain next time!! FYI I worked in retail for over 15yrs I know what they do!
well done lisa. agree wholeheartedly.

Totally unfair to blame the staff.
There's so many ferals around these
days. I actually saw a woman in Coles open a jar of peanut butter, stick her child's dummy in it, put the lid back on and replace it back on the shelf.
I took it back up to the front desk and they told me things like this happen all the time.
I would have taken the peanut butter straight up to the manager dealing with the checkouts, and described the woman and what she was wearing, so they could either charge her for the product and if she refused wait til she finished her shop and walked just outside the shop and get her for stealing.

The headline should have read “disgusting” sight I don’t see anything distressing about it.☹️

I stopped going to Kmart when they put in those middle of the store checkouts.
It's sad to see the stuff people get away with is going unchecked. Maybe the same desk jockeys who came up with the brainwave checkouts, also decided to cut down on the stock checkers/locators, and, floor supervisors. You have to wonder if they have any security personnel on patrol.
I do not like the store now and miss the old Kmart days when they had a cafeteria in store, aisles were always kept neat and all the manned checkouts were at the doors. Crap, I just realised I sound like a whining old granny....probably because I am.

This is so not new behaviour. It has been happening for years. I have visited a number of different Coles stores in the last couple of months and in each of these stores there have been half eaten Easter Eggs but not just in the Easter section. I have seen them in the fruit/vegetable area, in the cold section with the cheese, half hidden between boxes of biscuits and even in the dog food aisle.
I honestly believe that these days parents are the instigators of their kids behaviour. I've seen a woman hand her child a bag of grapes to consume whilst she did the shopping because the child was throwing a tantrum and that shut it up. It obviously doesn't occur to these types of parents that they are teaching their children how to steal, then they will wonder why later in life that their child gets done for shoplifting.

That I could do, however, we would have a screaming match and tears from the mother and alienate my son. They live 000's of km away and the only contact I have is via messenger. I get the REAL story from my daugheter, she has her head screwed on the right way. She has had stand-up fights with the mother over this and posting every detail of my grandson on FB and told her NOT to post any pictures of her daughter... needless to say there is no love lost there. Remember that my grandson is 11 and I have seen him twice in 10 years... may as well be a stranger.

Perhaps it is time you had a good talk to your son on the meaning of being a responsible parent irrespective of what his loud-mouthed wife has to say. Given that the kid is headed down a slippery slope, this may resonate with your son.
