Kmart shoppers share distressing sights in several stores: 'F****** grubs!'

As we hop into the Easter season, Aussies are reminded of a time traditionally filled with joy, family gatherings, and chocolate indulgence.

However, not all is well in the aisles of our beloved bargain stores.

Kmart, a household name for affordable shopping, recently found itself at the centre of a controversy that left many shoppers mad.

The chaos unfolded when Abbey Marie shared a series of videos that captured a local Kmart's disarray.

The footage revealed a scene that was far from festive.

Chocolate bunnies, once pristine in their packaging, were left half-eaten on the shelves.

Even the treats' wrappers were torn, with their ears nibbled away.

This sight made the chocolates unsellable and painted a picture of disrespect and disregard for property.

However, the store's Easter section was not the only casualty of the retail recklessness.

Abbey also shared the dishevelled state of other departments—including a misplaced dog bed among the shoes.

Abbey's videos showcased a sight that's becoming all too familiar for Kmart regulars.

'I went to two different Kmart stores yesterday, and they were both like this,' a commenter reacted.

'Stores would not be in this state if everyone had a basic level of decency and respect,' another said.

'The customers are f****** grubs. Who does this in a store?' a third asked in disbelief.

The question on everyone's lips is, 'Who's to blame?'

Many shoppers attributed the mess to unsupervised children and mischievous teenagers.

'The amount of people that use Kmart as a play centre for their kids is infuriating,' a commenter shared.

'Kmart needs an age limit. Get these teens out of here. I'm sick of the disrespect,' another suggested.

'Kmart needs a rule where you need to be accompanied by a parent/caregiver if you're under 18. The amount of teens I've seen trash Kmart for fun is ridiculous,' a concerned citizen said.

'In reality, parents let kids eat chocolate so they don't have to pay for it. Yes, staff get paid to tidy the shop, but if customers stopped being so feral, it wouldn't get like this,' another agreed.

However, not everyone is quick to blame the younger demographic.

Some shoppers directed their frustration towards the Kmart staff.

Several commenters suggested that Kmart may have staffing issues or have not been as diligent in their end-of-day clean-up duties as they could be.

'They need to get night staff in there and clean up,' a shopper suggested.

'This doesn't happen in one day. Try finding a staff member in Kmart that isn't overworked as not enough staff to cover the store,' another pointed out.

Several Kmart employees also spoke out about the incident.

'As a staff member at Kmart, my stress levels are so high because of posts like this blaming the staff,' an employee claimed.

'We try so hard to keep things tidy only to have customers wreck the place, and then people blame us.'

As of writing, Kmart has not commented yet about the situation, but this incident sparked a broader conversation about consumer behaviour, retail management and shoppers' collective responsibility.
Key Takeaways

  • Kmart has not yet commented on the situation, which has garnered attention online.

Totally unfair to blame the staff.
There's so many ferals around these
days. I actually saw a woman in Coles open a jar of peanut butter, stick her child's dummy in it, put the lid back on and replace it back on the shelf.
I took it back up to the front desk and they told me things like this happen all the time.

I would have been telling that woman what l thought of her.

Disregard for other people's property is a common trait these days because kids are not taught respect at home and some teenagers think they're able to do anything and get away with it.
Respect and manners are a thing of the past unfortunately.
I encountered a group of youths standing in a corridor laughing about a full packet of chips that had been poured onto the carpet outside a closed door.
I knew there was no point in asking who did it or clean it up. So I berated the unknown person who would have been present in their midst using the word ‘grub’ then suddenly apologised to whoever might of done it stating ‘it wasn’t your fault, I’m sorry’… ‘it was the way you were brought up’…. ‘Your parents didn’t know any better and must be grubs too’…’in fact I bet your mother was a real maggot’… the uncouth youths fell silent while I knew one of their number was seething.

And there are so many ON THIS SITE who object to security cameras in stores!?!? Go figure - objection when things like this happen and ultimately prices go up and we all have to pay, then the whingeing starts all over again.

Perhaps it’s time we examined our own consciences about objecting to cameras in stores and accept that they are out there for our safety and for apprehending the thieving individuals in stores. If no one here is guilty of thieving then there is no worry about the cameras. If we were attacked as innocent shoppers we then blame security and management for not keeping us safe! It is becoming a ‘no win’ situation.

These Kmart/other shop incidents are just a very small example of the destructive things people do when they think they cannot be recognised. We have also had violent attacks on innocent shoppers, so why do people object to the cameras? Something I cannot understand.

It's the way kids are brought up I'm afraid to say.... entitled
Not ‘entitled’ - that word should be used in its actual meaning for people who do more good than bad and there are plenty of the good people among us. These grubs are only ‘entitled’ to a damned good hiding and jailing for the destruction and harm they cause to others. The courts also need to wake up and stop their ‘slap on the wrist and be a good boy/girl’ attitude.

I have never seen any shops like that and hope I never do. What an absolute disgrace and whoever is doing it someone should be seeing them and bring it to the attention of staff if it is kids. Mind you finding staff handy is another problem. But you would imagine that area is frequented at the moment so people must be turning a blind eye. You do realise this pushes the prices up for other customers who do the right thing.

Wow I get really pissed at the sheer stupidity of this person! Firstly go to the store manager and complain! Secondly its customers / kids that do this and just leave the wrapping half esten product on shelves, it wasn't the staff!! Next time before you seek to glorify yourself on bloody TikTok! Use your brain next time!! FYI I worked in retail for over 15yrs I know what they do!

it's only a matter of time before you won't be allowed in a store ,any store, you will have to order from a catalogue or online and the staff will be getting your order and you will be picking it up outside. and it's not the parents at blame for the behaviour of "kids", it is "showing off" to "mates". all this started from taking respect and discipline control away from teachers and parents

Staff are battling to cover a large area with to few staff. So often I see kids just wandering around while parents in a world of their own, some teens? Well nobody can control them .

Luckily, they didn't 'TAKE YOU OUT' which is on the cards. Beat you to death, the mongrels.

The showing off yes, but can’t agree not parents re little uncontrolled kids. It is the parents duty to stop them doing these things.b

how can you nsay that it's actually the parent's fault, the kids are most likely "little angels" when at home or with the parents, they only behave as they do when they are away from parents

This type of thing has been going on for years...I've seen similar in Target stores, with clothing on the floor or just thrown back on top of other clothing on hangers. etc. As for the eaten food, how many might have seen this type of thing in Supermarkets as well....only having more staff on the floor watching shoppers and their behavior along with the cameras in store will stop this sort of thing. People need to be pulled up on this behavior not left to just walk out of the stores scott free.
