Kmart shoppers in shock over sky-high delivery fees: is it a glitch or a rip-off?

It's no surprise that many people prefer to shop online these days instead of going to physical stores.

Online shopping offers a lot of benefits, like additional deals and discounts that you might not find in stores. Plus, it's so convenient to be able to shop from the comfort of your own home!

But online shopping also has its downsides, like the potential for hidden charges. Unfortunately, one shopper recently experienced this when trying to buy a pair of pyjama pants from Kmart.

The customer only wanted to buy two pairs of $12 pyjama pants, but was shocked to see a delivery fee of $99.98! Yes, you read that right - a delivery fee that cost way more than the items she ordered.

This left the shopper confused and wondering whether this was a mistake or if postage costs had suddenly skyrocketed. It's frustrating when unexpected charges pop up, especially when they're so significant!

The shopper's post has gone viral, and it turns out this isn't an isolated incident.

Hundreds of Kmart fans have taken to the comments to share their own horror stories of delivery fees gone wild. We're talking $71.15, $83.78, and even $95.50 to send items to different parts of the country!

And get this, one unlucky customer was quoted over $50 for delivery despite living less than a kilometre away from the store! Now, these delivery fees are just plain ridiculous…

Who wants to pay more than twice the amount for delivery as they do for the actual item they're buying? Not us, and definitely not the angry commenters. Kmart, we love you, but come on, let's keep the delivery fees reasonable, shall we?

Well, it looks like Kmart has heard the complaints about those outrageous delivery fees! A spokesperson for the retailer has come forward to address the issue and put customers' minds at ease.

According to a news source, the retail giant is experiencing a system error that's causing some customers to be quoted incorrect shipping charges on select clothing and accessories. But don't worry, the team is working hard to fix the problem and get things back to normal.

In a statement, the representative said, 'At Kmart, we pride ourselves on delivering high-quality products to our customers at prices they love. We encourage anyone experiencing this issue to reach out to our friendly customer service team at [email protected].'

That's a relief! It's great to know that Kmart is taking this issue seriously and working to resolve it. We can all rest easy knowing that we won't have to shell out a hundred dollars for a few items, like a simple pair of pyjama pants.

Key Takeaways

  • A Kmart customer was shocked to find a $99.98 shipping fee on her online order of two pairs of $12 pyjama pants.
  • The shopper's post on Facebook attracted the attention of many Kmart fans, who shared their own experiences with high shipping fees.
  • A Kmart spokesperson confirmed that the shipping fee was a result of a system error affecting a small number of items on the website, and the issue is being corrected.

Did you know that Kmart has a membership program that could save you some serious cash on delivery fees? It's true!

Last year, the retail giant announced the launch of OnePass, a program that brings together some of Australia's biggest brands, including Kmart, Target, Catch, and Bunnings Warehouse, all under one roof.

For just $4 a month, or $40 a year, OnePass subscribers get free delivery on thousands of eligible products or orders across all the participating brands. And if that wasn't enough, customers also get an introductory spend-and-earn offer at Kmart stores.

So if you're tired of getting hit with those hefty delivery fees, OnePass might just be the answer to all your problems. With more value, convenience, and choice, it's never been easier to access all the products you love without breaking the bank.

And if you're still on the fence, you can even try OnePass for the first 30 days for free! Don't miss out on this amazing opportunity to save.

While Kmart's recent shipping fee blunder was caused by a system error, it's always a good idea to double-check everything before clicking that 'checkout' button. You never know when you might spot a mistake that could save you some serious cash!

Maybe the item you thought was on sale actually wasn't, or the discounted price didn't get applied at checkout. Or maybe that 'last chance' deal you thought was a steal was actually priced at the original rate. It's always better to be safe than sorry, so do some extra research and make sure you're getting the best possible deal.

We want all of your online shopping experiences to be smooth and stress-free, so be vigilant and always double-check those prices before making a purchase. Happy shopping, everyone!

I never pay delivery as $60 and up is free except for large bulky items.
Maybe different for those living in rural Australia but they should then send through Australia post using the pre paid satchels.

Maybe kmart needs to look at how they send orders, I have on many many occasions received a delivery for one small thing and it has arrived in a large box.

I usually now use click n collect then pay $5 for same day delivery if I need the item urgently

This excessive delivery charge is not only on clothing but many other items, I have wanted to purchase items online as I'm housebound but having gone through the purchase procedure and been notified of the delivery charge I've cancelled the purchase, I'm around 10 ks from the nearest store but have been quoted more than a hundred dollars for delivery when I could have hired a ute and driver for $40

I am an online shopper from years ago. Have never come across such exorbitant delivery fees unless it was from overseas or for furniture delivery. So before using social media to complain or bad mouth a company, why can't people call the company and tell them about the exorbitant delivery fee and find out what is going on.
We seem to complain about everything but never a compliment. Disappointing.

They prob want
People to sign up to one pass

The Supplier should always provide a statement of all costs, including delivery before you commit to the purchase.
Always check that statement before you commit.
Make a print or screen shot of that statement in case of a dispute.

I have one pass and for the most part it’s great. But some items on Catch do not qualify for it and their delivery costs are expensive. If I order an item without the free delivery I just cancel it. Same with Amazon. I have Amazon Prime so some items are covered but the ones not are expensive so I take them out of my basket
