Thousands of Australians may be unknowingly sitting on potential hazards in their homes as Kmart re-issued a recall for a metal chair.
The metal chairs were sold nationwide between July 2014 and March 2016 and were available in colour variations of red, white, and black.
It was originally recalled in 2016 due to a defect on the 'tapering of the inside bottom of the chair legs', which reportedly 'presents an entrapment or laceration hazard'.
This recent recall has been prompted by further reports of dangerous incidents that involved the furniture item, according to reports.
'We strongly encourage customers to seek appropriate resolution by either returning the metal chairs to a Kmart store, or requesting plugs to insert into the legs of the chairs,' said Kmart.
Furthermore, customers can return the chairs for a full refund or request plugs to insert into the legs of the chairs to continue using the chairs.
The plugs are free, and proof of purchase is not required.
Affected products have the following identifying keycodes located on a sticker under the chair: 42024705, 42122609 and 42127949.
If you wish to know more about this, you may contact Kmart’s customer service on 1800 124 125 from Mondays-Fridays between 8 am-5 pm AEST. You may also visit Kmart’s website at https://www.kmart.com.au/ for more information.
