Kentucky Fried Chicken opened its first store in Sydney’s west—the start of Australia’s love affair with that secret recipe. Back then, a Thrift Box of crispy chicken could be yours for just $1!

Do you remember your first KFC meal? We’d love to hear your stories here!

The first store opened in Guildford near where we lived. Our children were fascinated by the big b I cket.

Yes I remember the big bucket and I also remember the ads on TV featuring Colonel Sanders.
Back then it was called Kentucky Fried chicken not abbreviated to KFC 🍗

I remember the one that opened in Miranda when I was young. Kentucky Fried Chicken (KFC today) was a special treat for us now and then, but the line up was always very long with only once cash register operating, the operator over a microphone to the back calling out the order, and it would appear some minutes later through a little opening behind. There wasn't a huge choice like it is today.

I loved their crumbed chicken livers years ago. Haven't seen em 4 years now.

When Kentucky Fried Chicken first appeared it was a real novelty and we all had to have some. With the Colonels' mix of herbs and spices it was also delicious. Sadly I think they have lost the recipe as it just doesn't taste the same now.

Didn’t like their Chicken back then, & haven’t tried it since.

However, their Chips are OK… not that we buy them very much.
