A woman named Ally Rae Case recently shared a clip where she advised travellers to ensure their luggage tag information is hidden from prying eyes.

In the clip, the flight attendant explains that leaving your address, email and phone number visible on your bag tag is not only inviting to potential thieves, but it also compromises your safety in other ways.

'That's way too much information for just anyone to have,' she said.

The experienced flier suggests that instead of revealing your personal information on your tags, flip the paper over and write your contact details on the other side.

This is especially important if you're using public transport, as there will likely be people of all types travelling with you–some of whom may try to take advantage of your personal information.

‘I ride the train a lot, and there are a lot of crazies on there,’ Case said.

‘I don’t need my information just there for everyone to see.’

For those concerned about losing their luggage, Ally reassures them that they don't have to worry, as whoever finds their bag will take out the piece of paper and simply flip it to the other side to get their contact information, should it be necessary.

But one user disagreed and said: ‘Really? After seeing a blank tag, they’re going to reach in and pull out the paper? Seems unlikely.’

Other users gave some useful tips to avoid that from happening.

‘You could write “see other side” if you’re unsure,’ one suggested. ‘Just use a sharpie so it bleeds through the paper enough to tell there is writing on the other side.’

While another added: ‘I’d write an arrow or FLIP on it just in case whoever finds it thinks it’s blank,’
