Karl Stefanovic rightfully slams disgusting Knox School group chat – ‘It’s TOO far!’

Warning: This article contains strong language and disturbing comments made about children.
One would assume that a prestigious private school for boys would be the ideal place to foster fruitful and healthy relationships among students before they officially contribute to society.
But it seems like a group of students in this particular school needs an extensive lesson on ethics and morality.
After a group chat created by Sydney private school students made the headlines this week, Today Show co-host Karl Stefanovic mercilessly condemned the racist, homophobic, and misogynistic content found in the chat, deeming it ‘one of the most disgusting and despicable things’ he has ever seen.
The images and language used in the ‘Gang Gang Discord’ chatroom were unearthed by the Daily Telegraph on Wednesday – and what they stumbled across would make anyone’s blood boil.

Some of the vile names of the accounts involved were Ni***r Removal Service and Fa**othater3000. There were also countless anti-Semitic and racist slurs used along with concerning remarks made against women and abortions.
But the nail in the coffin was how the chat allegedly contained several videos of young men being raped. The group members also openly discussed their desires to rape children and be a pedophile.
The chat was active for two years, featuring the school’s current students, former students, and their friends.
A visibly disgusted Stefanovic described the boys’ actions as ‘deplorable’.
‘This is one of the most disgusting and despicable things that I have ever seen. Yes, boys will be boys, but this is too far.’ he sneered.
‘How do we expect these boys to grow up and respect women when they are circulating this sort of rubbish around themselves? If were a parent at this school, I would be pulling my kid out.’
‘These kids need to be absolutely pulled over the coals.’ he continued.

Because of the school’s esteemed reputation, those involved could end up with influential roles in society such as doctors, politicians, or lawyers.
‘They take that into the workforce and the culture continues,’ Stefanovic said. ‘This behaviour needs to be eliminated now.’
Today Show co-host Ally Langdon chimed in with her thoughts, saying that many of the messages and videos were ‘downright revolting’.
‘I think sometimes it can be dismissed as boys will be boys but what was read and what was posted in this group chat was so offensive… It’s on a whole new level.’ she detailed.
Knox Grammar Principal Scott James confirmed in a letter distributed to parents on Wednesday that several students had already been suspended and left the school after their actions were brought to light.
He explained that the boys posted ‘inappropriate images and engaged in an offensive commentary’, adding that their actions did not reflect the school’s standards or expectations of its students.
‘I am writing to inform you about the actions that the school has taken following an incident that involved several boys from the senior school.’ Mr James wrote.
‘The nature of these posts is contrary to the values and culture of Knox and is unacceptable. The actions of these boys do not reflect a Knox education or the expectations that we place on our students to be respectful and responsible citizens in the community.’
Stefanovic doubted whether any action would have been taken if Daily Telegraph had not published the story.

‘I don’t think the school would have done anything if Mark hadn’t raised the story. They might have only done a few things.’
This isn’t the first time Knox Grammar found itself in hot water. In 2009, five Knox Grammar teachers were charged with historical sex abuse crimes, while a 2015 child sex abuse royal commission accused the school of hiding over three decades of abuse.
According to The Guardian, the allegations made at the time included ‘young students being fondled, masturbated, and asked to perform oral sex on at least one teacher.’
Knox Grammar’s director of swimming Nicholas Warby was also charged with possessing child abuse material in 2019.
Material taken from the group chat is now being investigated by the NSW Police. Child Abuse and Sex Crimes Squad Commander Detective Superintendent Jayne Doherty confirmed that specialist detectives were reviewing it.
Knox Grammar School in Sydney’s Upper North Shore has no connection with The Knox School in Victoria whatsoever.
What are your thoughts on this appalling incident? Should the school be reprimanded for the allegations made against its employees and students? How should the students be dealt with? Let us know in the comments.
