Karl Stefanovic mocks Meghan Markle's reaction to a fire in Archie's nursery – what did he say?

After Meghan Markle admitted that she was rattled by a fire in the nursery where her son Archie was being cared for, Karl Stefanovic used the opportunity to take a jab at the former actress.
The Today anchor has been known to roast the Duchess of Sussex in the past publicly. After listening to her recall the incident in her new Spotify podcast Archetypes, Stefanovic said he felt absolutely no sympathy for the 41-year-old royal.
In the podcast’s first episode, which came out on Tuesday, Meghan told her friend and tennis star, Serena Williams about how horrified she was when she found out that Archie's nursery had caught fire in September 2019 while the Sussexes were touring South Africa.
Thankfully, baby Archie was not in the room at the time; however, Meghan revealed that she was left so shaken by the situation that she struggled to attend the royal engagements that were scheduled for that day.

The only response that Stefanovic had was to snicker at Meghan's emotion and make fun of her for 'overreacting'.
'So, just to get this right, the baby's, what, not even there?' he laughed on the Wednesday episode of the breakfast show.
'No... the nanny had taken the baby from the room before the fire ignited,' his co-host Allison Langdon replied.
'But... so then, the baby's not there when the fire catches, right? And because the baby wasn't there, she was going to have difficulties going to a function? Oh, my God,' Stefanovic went on to say, and he even rolled his eyes.
Langdon made an effort to empathise with the Duchess by telling Stefanovic that she was a young mum living in a different country, which may have been a nerve-wracking experience for her (or anyone, really).
Her co-host laughed uncontrollably and then told Langdon to quit acting so fake while talking about the royal mother.
'That is not you talking. You are a woman who says, "grow a set". That's what you would say normally,' he said.

Before deciding to step down as senior working royals in 2020, the Duke and Duchess of Sussex embarked on their final official tour, which took place in South Africa.
In her explanation, Meghan described how she was then required to attend a royal event while being separated from her months-old child at that time.
After hearing of the fire incident from Archie's nanny, she said everyone was 'in tears and shaken', yet they couldn't do anything but attend another official engagement.
In the 57-minute episode of the podcast show, which is now available on Spotify, Meghan and Serena also discussed the double standard women face when they are labelled as 'ambitious'.
On the other hand, Stefanovic's most recent appearance on the morning show saw the 48-year-old TV presenter taking off his clothes and baring his chest on national television.
