In the quest for a healthier body and well-being, we find ourselves caught up with complex diet plans or expensive supplements.

However, Dr Michael Mosley, a trusted voice in the health community, highlighted a simple addition to our diet that can have positive and profound effects.

On his podcast Just One Thing, Dr Mosley identified flax seeds—also called linseeds—as a 'nutritional powerhouse' that can aid in reducing the risk of heart disease, lower high blood pressure, and even improve skin health.

Flaxseeds are tiny, brown seeds that pack a mighty punch of nutrients.

The mild, nutty flavour of flaxseeds makes them a versatile ingredient that can be incorporated into daily meals—whether on meals, snacks, or even desserts.

They are rich in fibre, protein, and omega-3 fatty acids, particularly alpha-linolenic acid (ALA)—known for its anti-inflammatory properties and a protective agent against heart disease.

Dr Mosley also shared that flax seeds are better absorbed by the body when ground into a powder.

Dr. Mosley cited studies that have demonstrated the positive impact of flaxseeds on health.

'A small German study on women with sensitivity showed that two weeks of taking a 2g flaxseed oil supplement improved their skin quality,' he shared.

'Not only did their sensitivity decrease, but they also received a boost in hydration and smoothness.'

Dr Mosley also shared that these are also helpful in digestion.

'Flaxseeds are also rich in fibre, which is good for relieving constipation and can also help control our blood sugar levels,' he said.

'A small study published in 2020 found that feeding volunteers 30g of ground flaxseed was enough to lower blood sugar levels across a day.'

Incorporating flax seeds into your diet could be an easy and natural way to support your health. Maintaining a balanced, nutrient-rich diet is crucial, and flaxseeds are a convenient and cost-effective option.

For members who experience inflammation, adding flax seeds to your daily intake may keep them at bay.

Goodness me. Medical doctors finally agreeing that old wives' tales about such stuff as certain natural oils have medically useful properties. I recall when the effects of cod-liver oil were completely discounted by one's GP. The it was proved via some research that it helped, just as does flax-seed oil, and the price of cod-liver oil went sky-high and the cod population became ever more depleted

Not another snake oil cure, seeds have always been good old as old
I often wondered about snake-liver oil as an alternative to cod-liver oil. It could reduce the risk of snake-bite in Australia..........Although the banking industry might object.............
