In a series of daring heists across multiple Drakes Supermarkets stores in Adelaide, a mysterious man has earned the nickname 'meat magician' for his uncanny ability to hide pricey meat in his clothing.
Despite being captured on security cameras, the unidentified thief has allegedly managed to elude authorities and steal meat from the stores 15 times in just one month.
According to reports, the man makes a beeline for the expensive cuts of high-quality wagyu and Angus beef before deftly sliding them into his jacket and casually walking through the checkout with just a single low-cost item. In total, the meat magician has reportedly stolen over $5000 worth of stock from Drakes Supermarkets.
As authorities scramble to catch the elusive meat thief, the public is left wondering just how the ‘magician’ manages to pull off his daring feats of meat thievery.
The incident has sparked a police investigation into the alleged thefts across Adelaide, as well as an investigation by JP Drake of Drakes Supermarket himself.
'He seems to make meat disappear. It's magic, but it's not the type of magic we like to see,' said the store owner.
He even made a joke of the incident in a social media post, saying: 'Last week's Customer Magician is this week's remix, feat. (in chronological order) Eyre, Gawler, Elizabeth Park, Torrensville, Newton, Gawler, Semaphore, Gawler, Gawler East, Newton, Newton 2.0, Torrensville and Torrensville 2.0 – all in the past month.'
