Have you ever wondered what the royal family actually is like behind closed doors? In an interview with Stephen Colbert on The Late Show, Daniel Craig revealed that the Queen is surprisingly ‘very funny’.
The actor and Her Majesty starred in a hilarious skit together for the opening ceremony of the London Olympics which featured 007 accompanying the royal Bond girl to a helicopter.
The skit started in Buckingham Palace. Daniel Craig, who was playing 007, meets the Queen as she was writing a letter and training her adorable corgis to roll over. Her Majesty greets him and proceeds to make their way around the palace to enter a helicopter. The unexpected pair flew over the streets of London until they reached their designated location, the Olympic Park.
The iconic scene ended with Bond and the Queen jumping out of the helicopter and parachuting into the stadium as a grand entrance that surely, no one will forget. Don’t worry, this part was performed by stunt actors, of course!
Angela Kelly who is the Queen’s dressmaker shared that it only took five minutes to convince Her Majesty to consent to director Danny Boyle’s epic idea for her to perform alongside Daniel Craig that includes parachuting into the Olympic Stadium.

“I ran upstairs and luckily the Queen was free. She was very amused by the idea and agreed immediately. I asked if she would like a speaking part. Without hesitation, Her Majesty replied, ‘Of course, I must say something. After all, he is coming to rescue me".
“I understand that you may not be able to answer this question, but I'm gonna ask anyway: What's she like in private?” the American TV host asked.
“Very funny. Very funny” the star responded. “(She) wants to crack a joke, and (she) cracked a joke about me.”
“We were having our photographs taken and she just went, 'Oh no, he's the one that doesn't smile.’ Fair enough!”
Stephen Colbert followed up with a question on what the corgis were like to which the James Bond star replied: “I was rolling around on the floor with them most of the time. I think they have their own footmen, they're very friendly.”
When asked about the skit in 2012, the actor revealed: “It (the skit) wasn't supposed to be funny. It was supposed to be serious.”
“She was fun, incredibly game. We had a short space of time and I was a bit grumpy as it was my day off and suddenly I am at the Palace with the Queen in her private chamber” he continued to explain. “And she improvises a little bit. She was supposed to be sitting at the desk and she asked if she could write, so she pretended to write.”
