Here, There and Everywhere?
I've sure gotten old!

I've had two bypass surgeries,
A hip replacement,
New knees,
Fought prostate cancer and diabetes
I'm half blind, can't hear anything quieter than a jet engine,
Take 40 different medications that make me dizzy, winded, and subject to blackouts.
Have bouts with dementia.
Have poor circulation; hardly feel my hands and feet anymore.
Can't remember if I'm 85 or 92.
Have lost all my friends.
But, thank God, I still have my driver's license!

Is that lucky us or unlucky us? lol

Sounds like a few of our residents in our retirement village, at least I gave up my license before I put anyone in danger. I shudder when I see some of some of them driving, drunk and with thing like type 1 diabetes or osteoarthritis in their spine and struggle to walk with a walker let alone be able to control a car with very limited mobility.

I wish. I spent 4 months in hospital following heart surgery, including 10 days in ICU on kidney dialysis. My driver's license was suspended while I was "out" but on release from hospital I was allowed to drive with a qualified driver beside me, Then in June my license was cancelled and I was put on a learner's permit, but was allowed by the RMS, after being declared medically fit to take a test, which I passed at the 3rd attempt. While waiting for my license to be returned, a letter was produced informing me that I still had to take a test with an Occupational Therapist, whom I am required to engage at my own expense. I am all for making the roads safer, but I'm not prepared to put up with the lying, contradiction and time-wasting I have had to go through to reclaim what for most Australians is a basic freedom, the safe and legal use of our highways. I am 74 and by all accounts have made a full recovery.

Lucky man. He still has his driver's licence.
He'll be safe as long as he doesn't have a blackout or forget his way home.
