Is Your Toyota on the Recall List? Avoid a Deadly Engine Fire with this Urgent Information!

Ladies and Gentlemen, start your engines - or maybe don't, if you're driving a Toyota C-HR Petrol (NGX10 & NGX50). Toyota, the automotive giant that has consistently been the top choice for Australian families, young drivers, and seniors alike, is currently centre stage due to an urgent recall.

The federal Department of Transport has urged thousands of Toyota C-HR vehicles to return to Toyota dealers due to a potential fuel pump fault that could cause an engine bay fire.

Your engine bay shouldn't be a ‘dragon's lair’, but it can quickly turn into one due to a potential fault in this fuel pump. The welded area of the fuel pump could wear and fracture - a situation equivalent to poking a sleeping dragon. The leak resulting from this fault has the potential to ignite an engine bay fire. Consult your noses, folks. You might be able to smell the leak before witnessing a fire show.

‘The internal components of the fuel pump may wear and fracture the welded area of the fuel pump, which could lead to a fuel leak in the engine compartment,’ the federal Department of Transport recall explained.

The recall is specific to several Toyota C-HR variants, including several batches of the C-HR Petrol (NGX10 & NGX50). The C-HR 2WD 1.2L Petrol and the C-HR AWD 1.2L Petrol are the ones in focus. If you fall within the 14,480 affected vehicles sold between 2019 and 2021, you're encouraged to book in with your local Toyota dealer for a free fuel pump replacement.

What's should be the game plan?

In the wake of this turning tide, the first order of business is to keep calm and act. Toyota promises to resolve the issue and requests the affected owners to arrange an appointment at their preferred Toyota dealer for a free inspection and fuel pump replacement if necessary.

Key Takeaways
  • Thousands of Toyota C-HR vehicles have been urgently recalled due to a fuel pump fault that could potentially cause engine bay fires.
  • The recall indicates that a leak in the engine compartment might be detected by a fuel odour.
  • The affected vehicles, sold between 2019 and 2023, are variants of the C-HR Petrol (NGX10 & NGX50), including C-HR 2WD 1.2L Petrol model and C-HR AWD 1.2L Petrol model.
  • Owners of the affected vehicles will be contacted and asked to book a fuel pump replacement free of charge, expanding on a similar recall issued in 2021.

Bloody adverts! How do I stop them. They pop up and poison articles from anywhere including when reading SDC articles.

When are these motor companies going to get their act together? there does not seem a week goes by without a recall being made and it seems some of the highest priced do not miss out, god Help us if they bring flying cars out or will we return to the old horse and buggy times, at least we would have plenty of manure for our gardens Ha Ha.
