For many, nostalgia is often stirred up by the tantalising taste of some beloved food or drink from the past.
And nothing brings back memories of simpler times like the iconic Blue Heaven flavoured milk by the legendary local brand, Big M.
With a uniqueness like no other infused in its charming blend of vanilla and raspberry flavours, Blue Heaven has always held a special place in the hearts of many.
However, it's never managed to secure a permanent spot in Big M's impressive line-up, only resurfacing every now and then.
In 2021, during its last return, Victorians created an uproar—propelling the drink to the top as the No.1 selling new flavoured milk product in the state, according to IRI convenience store data.
It even flew past the brand’s much-loved strawberry-flavoured milk, the most popular among other regular flavours such as chocolate, banana, and iced coffee—all of which are always available.
Now, residents of Victoria will get the chance to bask once again in the glory of the Blue Heaven this summer, along with the addition of another fun surprise.
Yes, you heard it right!
Big M is also introducing a brand new, limited edition creation to its family—the Hokey Pokey.
Get ready to immerse your taste buds in a creamy concoction of vanilla, honeycomb, and toffee, mirroring the flavours of the traditional Hokey Pokey ice cream flavour, all in a handy 500 mL bottle.
The milk is sourced from Australian dairy farms and is sold under the parent company Bega Group.
Anne Scott, Senior Brand Manager at Big M, said: 'We’ve been blown away by the continuous love for Big M Blue Heaven, and we’re sure its return will be highly anticipated by our fans.'
'We hope Victorians enjoy a trip down memory lane with the return of one of our most requested limited-edition flavours, as well as the iconic flavours of Hokey Pokey to kick off this year’s big summer of fun.'
In other news, Victoria's embattled dairy industry are facing major disruptions this week, as milk tanker drivers in eastern Victoria stop work from 3 a.m. Tuesday, and up to 1,400 dairy factory workers across regional and metropolitan Melbourne go on strike.
The 48-hour protected planned action against four major processors—Saputo, Lactalis Australia, Fonterra, and Peters Icecream—are said to be the workers’ last option after a lengthy dispute over wages and work conditions.
The strike means a cease in operations at 14 sites, including Longwarry, Leongatha, and Darnum in eastern Victoria, Warrnambool in the south-west along with Kiewa, Cobden, Tangambalanga, Stanhope and Cobram in the north, and Laverton and Mulgrave in Melbourne.
