If you're one of the many Australians who love a cold beer, we've got some bad news for you.
Several popular beer products have been recalled due to concerns that drinking them could cause illness.
Authorities have ordered an urgent recall on three Ballistic Beer Co products, which include the Hawaiian Haze Pale Ale 375mL, Hawaiian Haze IPA 375mL, and Reef Pale Ale 375mL.
The best before dates for these products are as follows:
The beer items have been recalled due to secondary fermentation that has occurred in them, which could cause disease or harm if drunk. Credit: Food Standards Australia.
The items have been sold in single cans, four packs, and cartons of 16 across the country.
Additionally, the retailers who have been impacted by the recall include Liquorland locations in Queensland and NSW, Vintage Cellars locations in Victoria, NT, Tasmania, ACT, and NSW, independent liquor retailers in South Australia, NSW, Queensland, and Victoria, as well as First Choice, Dan Murphy's, and BWS locations nationwide.
Food Standards Australia (FSA) explained that the reason for the recall is the secondary fermentation that has occurred in the products. Noting that the process could cause the products to become more carbonated and alcoholic.
A statement from FSA read: 'Food products containing excess alcohol and carbonation may cause illness/injury if consumed.'
If you have any of these products in your home, you should not drink or open them. Instead, you should contact Ballistic Beer Co. via their contact form or bring the items back to the store where you purchased them for safe disposal instructions and to arrange a full refund.
We'll raise a glass to better beer news in the future! Stay safe out there, folks!
