Is this the worst flight ever? Rowdy group wreak havoc on the flight, leaving many ‘horrified’
- Replies 5
This might be one of the worst flights ever captured on camera, folks.
The footage, which was captured by a fellow traveller, showed dozens of young people blaring music from a speaker and subjecting many of the other passengers to verbal abuse and harassment.
Being seated next to a chatty Cathy on your next flight won’t seem as bad as this one. The incident (which happened on September 25) involved a 70-strong group of young men and women, who were ‘raving’ for the entire three-hour journey to Ibiza.
An elderly Scottish couple that was left cowering in their seats during the flight has now hit back at Ryanair for failing to control the rowdy bunch, and for the ‘copy and paste’ response they received when they filed a formal complaint. The couple also said they received the response a month after the incident.
The married couple were excited to take a relaxing break as they boarded the plane at Edinburgh airport but instead were subjected to ‘horrifying’ acts.
In the video, one of the passengers was lifting a boombox over their head. Others were dancing around two of the flight attendants in the aisle – both were currently working the trolley – and serving food and drinks to other travellers.
The elderly woman said her 58-year-old husband (who has a heart condition) was accosted on his way back from the bathroom by one of the drunken boys.
‘This guy hit my husband's hand as if to do a high five but then gave him the finger,’ she explained.
Other passengers on the same flight revealed that they also received verbal abuse and harassment from the members of the boozed-up group.
The airline staff were allegedly unable to calm the situation down, according to one of the passengers. One woman had to forcibly shove a young man away from her after he refused to leave her alone.
The elderly couple filed a formal complaint but later branded Ryanair as a ‘joke’. They admitted that they felt the airline took ‘no responsibility’ over the incident, and gave no reassurance that it wouldn’t happen again.
‘They had a big black speaker at the highest volume you could get which was blaring for three hours. They were banging on the roof, taking their tops off and opening their drinks that they had bought at duty-free,’ the elderly woman said.
One stressed traveller added that when they went to land, there were ‘no police waiting for them at the airport’.
