Is this the end of the $1 Macca’s frozen Coke?

We all love a good bargain, especially when it comes to our favourite fast food items. That's why the McDonald's Loose Change menu is such a popular choice among Aussies – because who can say no to chicken nuggets for only a few gold coins?

Sadly, it looks like one of the most beloved items on the Loose Change menu is about to get a price hike.

That's right, Macca's fans – prepare yourselves for a heart-wrenching blow. According to recent reports, the chain restaurant is planning on raising the price of their $1 frozen Cokes in the near future.

The news first broke when an eagle-eyed customer spotted a sign at a McDonald's store in Para Hills, Adelaide.

The note read: 'Due to recent price adjustment all Frozen Drinks are now $2.'

'Other prices have also been changed. Sorry for any inconvenience.'

The sign caused quite an uproar among customers who were shocked and disappointed by the news.

Many people expressed their worries on social media, some even labelling it a tragedy, while others accepted their fate and told others that 'the day has arrived'.

One guy even went so far as to call it an 'outrage'.

If you're as upset about this news as we are, don't worry – there is still hope!

After the sign caused such an uproar online, McDonald's was quick to release an official statement clarifying that nothing has been set in stone yet and that they are currently just testing out different prices for their products

Customers can still get their hands on any size of Frozen Coke for $1 using the MyMacca's app Customers ordering over the phone or in-store, however, should be aware that they can only get a small size Frozen Coke for $1, and that an extra 50 cents will be charged for an increase in size.

Meanwhile, a Macca's spokesperson confirmed that the item's pricing apparently won't change further until at least June 2023.

The representative remarked: 'Macca’s is committed to providing great quality and great value food to customers, which is why we’re promising that our Loose Change Menu prices will not increase from now until at least June 2023.'

'Our Loose Change Menu offers Macca’s favourites for less, including the classic Hamburger, Fries, Chicken McNuggets, Sundaes and more.'

'We know our customers love our great value Frozen Coke products, and customers will still be able to purchase any large Frozen Coke product for $1 when they order and pay through the MyMacca’s App.'

The spokesperson also shared some upcoming discount programs, including the 30 Days, 30 Deals promo.

'Customers will also be able to enjoy Macca’s popular 30 Days 30 Deals promotion from November 1, offering customers a great new value deal every day via the MyMacca’s App,' the representative continued.

'Like all businesses, we review menu prices from time to time and consider several factors, including the higher-cost environment we are operating in, which has resulted in slight changes to some of our menu prices.'

Key Takeaways

  • McDonald's has clarified that there is no price hike for its $1 frozen Coke product, despite a sign to the contrary appearing in one of its stores.
  • The fast food giant has reassured customers that the cult item will remain on the Loose Change menu and can still be ordered for $1 via the MyMacca's app.
  • Reviewing menu prices from time to time is a common business practice, and McDonald's says it takes several factors into account when doing so.

Phew! We don't know about you but we definitely breathed a sigh of relief after hearing that bit of news!

What are your thoughts on this? Better yet, are you a fan of the $1 frozen Coke? We’d love to know whether you make regular stops at the fast food giant in your neighbourhood.

Good old Macca's don't go there much, staff are poorly trained, (probably like other fast food joints) so don't really care about price hikes @ these outlets.

the greatest profit they have is on the Frozen coke scam....A little Flavoured syrup poured over shaved ice.... yes it might taste good and very good on a hot day, but is a con in my view

I don’t go to Macdonald’s so no problem for me. I can’t understand why it’s an “outrage” for some people. Everything else is going up in other stores so why can’t Macdonald’s up their prices on their frozen coke.
