- Replies 0
Ah, chocolate. Who doesn’t love a sweet treat every now and then? One of the most popular Easter treats among kids and adults alike is Cadbury Mini Eggs. There’s nothing quite like digging straight into a delicious bag of these delectable chocolates.
However, one TikTok user recently shared a 'hack' for eating Cadbury Mini Eggs that has got everyone talking.
Grace, who goes by the name @itsgraceg on TikTok, uploaded footage of her unique way of eating Cadbury Mini Eggs to the social media platform, and it’s since gone viral with over 4.6 million views.
‘My new favourite thing,’ she said in the clip.
Rather than digging straight into the bag – as most of us do – Grace emptied the chocolate eggs into a bowl before popping them in the microwave for 50 seconds.
After heating the chocolate eggs, she took one from the bowl and broke it in half, revealing a melted chocolate centre while the hard shell remained intact.
‘I’ll never eat them normally again,’ Grace explained.
The clip received around 314,000 likes on the social media platform, with many saying the hack was a ‘game-changer’.
‘Looks so good OMG,’ one said and tagged their friend in the comments section.
‘Now I have to buy another pack of mini eggs, what a big shame,’ another joked.
While one user claimed that the hack made the chocolate taste ‘nicer’. ‘OMG try it,’ they said and tagged their friend in the comments section as well.
‘I was waiting for them to hatch,’ someone joked.
Others shared they do this microwave technique with other treats.
‘I’ve been doing this with Smarties since I was 7,’ one said.
But others warned to keep an eye on the eggs in the microwave.
‘I did this years ago and it broke my microwave,’ one cautioned.
‘It literally almost blew up; I’m not even joking. Only try this if you have a microwave oven,’ they added.

According to Appliances Online expert Colin Jones, it isn’t ‘necessarily dangerous’ to put hard-shell chocolate in a microwave. However, it is ‘similar’ to cooking a regular egg in its shell – so there’s a chance of it exploding inside your microwave. This means taking the same precautions when trying out this hack.
‘If either egg were to be placed inside a microwave for too long, it would explode and cause a huge clean-up,’ he shared.
Culinary expert at Appliances Online Chloe Skipp said: ‘It’s important to remember that chocolate is very temperamental and really affected by temperature.’
She added that if you’re keen on trying this hack, it would be safer to pop the chocolate eggs in the microwave with short 30-second intervals and keep an eye on them.
Food that has high-water content and is contained within a hard shell, like eggs or potatoes, can explode from heat contact as the water turns to steam and has no way to escape.
Additionally, foods that contain high amounts of minerals, such as iron, magnesium, and selenium, act like ‘tiny pieces of metal’ which react to the electromagnetic waves from the microwave.
This effect is similar to placing a fork inside a microwave, which we all know will cause sparks to fly. This phenomenon is called the ‘arcing effect’.
This is exactly what happened to this shopper who popped frozen vegetables in her microwave and watched her food light on fire. Read more details about this story here.
