Obviously the surgeons were told that amongst the samples they took in January a very thorough examination was made and cancer found. She is therefore being treated for cancer Such treatments usually last at least 6 months or longer and then she will have to recover from what can be some pretty horrible medications. She will be tired, lose weight unless steroids a part of her therapy and may lose her beautiful hair. She will not want to reappear in public in such a state. So why don’t people who know nothing about cancer treatment just stop making up stories and leave her and her family alone to go through this and we hope recover fully. It may well be next year before she is seen in public again. No one at all has the right to try and take pictures or make up fake stories like this American Pakoom guy who cannot even spell her name correctly. She must be left alone and so must her family especially her children. No one unless they are close to the immediate royal family is going to know the truth and wrong answers will damage her and her children. Let her get on with getting better, she obviously has a hard road ahead.

I’m sorry Jenny Sudell, but you have obviously never faced cancer and chemotherapy. As a public figure the devastating effects would be intolerable to wear in public. Yes many would love her job, but there is no retirement or time for no work and no privacy. In fact even while undergoing the full chemotherapy treatment she has been doing work that she can manage. But there are not many people who would trade with her for the chance of dying publicly from cancer while trying to keep her three young children from despair. You obviously haven’t lost anyone to cancer with the whole revolting treatment that goes with it and fails. I have lost 3 parents, including my mother who had both ovarian and bowel cancers at the same time and had a dreadful seven months before I lost her to cancer and a very dear friend in January. I’ve also treated these poor souls while they have gone through all of it and they don’t all make it.

I come from a non medical clinical background with an interest in general medicine. I suspect that the condition I think she has is being treated with a particularly unpleasant cytotoxic agent with a high risk of permanent side effects including hearing and kidney damage as well as damage to the sensory nerves in the feet and hands affecting dexterity and walking ability. Every patient is different. There is also no guarantee that recurrence won't occur. Suggest, leave her alone. She and her family have enough problems to deal with.

If you read my post it was initially about the craft of wordsmithing and praise thereof. No mention of cancer at all. In fact no mention of it in the post I was praising either.

The comments in both posts were generally about 'The Royals' lifestyle, which, as regards the cancer aspect, could be viewed as an oversight.

Indeed I have had close contact with a person who suffered and died too early as a consequence of breast cancer. Commoner or public figure, the effects are the same. I would also have liked my Auntie to have benefitted from being treated by the best Doctors the world has to offer, same as the commoner Princess did.

Catherine, Princess of Wales said quite clearly “preventative cancer treatment”. If cancer, as you so strongly and full of knowledge state, maybe it is Stage1? We simply don’t know and we should stay out of it.
