INDUE CARD (Cashless Card )

Hi All, just read on a local FB chat page there is a strong rumour that if LNP win the next election, they plan to introduce the INDUE Card for all aged pensioners and veterans . Does any one have any more info on this or know if this is a definite plan ?
Personally I feel it would be a disaster for aged pensioners who use cash to purchase cheap food at markets, best price at petrol stations, give a local teen a bit of cash to mow a lawn etc. The Cashless card would mean you cant get cash out, and are restricted where you can use it and what you can buy. IF it happens I hope places like insurance companies , internet etc will allow one to pay fortnightly, or are centre link going to allow you to set up sub accounts, as that is the only way we can pay all the bills is to set aside money each fortnight so you have enough when the big bills come in.

I thought that was in the W.A. Indigenous communities only due to alcohol abuse.🧐

Apparently not, Dutton wants it brought in for ALL aged pensioners and Veterans. He hates Cash and wants to control what is spent and where.
Interesting🧐I’ll have to do my usual research into this thanks for bringing it up as I don’t do f.b. Anymore.😼

Its a concern not just the control over our money but unlike the young ones that this was tried on, before the ALP stopped it when they were elected, many elderly really struggle with technology and to have little or no cash and have to rely on a card for all their needs and to even understand how to use it will cause immense stress to many elderly

Has anyone found any tangible proof of this?
I have written to Peter Dutton and asked him to confirm or deny the rumours. As I said I have read this on a few chat forums where others have raised their concerns. It was the LNP that first brought in the INDUE card for those on welfare but it was cancelled by the Labor party when they came to power. The rumour is Dutton has said he will be bring it back in and extend it to ALL pensioners and Veterans but i cant find reference to that statement. I was hoping someone on this forum may have more information.
This is all I have been able to find so far. It only refers to WA and welfare payments. Like many things sadly people read one thing and expand it to something else. I just hope it is not true as the elderly would simply not cope with it.

Awesome, thanks for the follow up. I am a veteran so I have skin in the game as well. I haven't been able to find any thing concrete either. I guess watch this space. cheers

Thank you, lets hope this is the correct story and not the one on chat forums. Elderly Folk are very careful with their limited funds.
Agree 100%. I have also sent an email to Senator Anne Ruston and asked her directly about it.

Oh thats great. The more people who contact them the better. I am sure sometimes they really dont think about the impact decisions have. I have a close friend who cant even turn on a computer technology terrifies her. Will be different in years to come as kids grow up now with technology , but many older folk are still in the mind set of Bank pass books 😁 cash is security to them, they need to see and feel their money and be able to save and use it as they always have.

Apparently Dutton made a statement the other day - Age pension is not a right it is 'welfare ' . Their is another side to the cashless card many I am sure have not considered. There are hundreds of thousands of local weekend markets across Australia. Stall fees go to local charities and service groups, local bush fire brigade take small donations for parking all CASH this would be GONE. Those markets supply those struggling financially with cheaper fruit and veg, they bring in tourists that support local coffee shops, restaurants , and retail that would be GONE. Few stall holders have electronic transfer, so the cost of using electronic transfer would not be worth the 4am start and the small amount they make from selling a few home made goods. Garage sales GONE, local kids making a few dollars walking a dog, feeding pets while the owner is away, washing a car, mowing a lawn ect GONE. We have seen here in Queensland how people voted LNP at the promise not to cut things but those promises are crumbling . Albo may not be the best, but the devil you know is better than the one you done.
